This is a Video Course on Concepts relating to Neuroscience.
What is Neuroscience?
Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system. The nervous system is like an animal’s electrical system, transmitting signals throughout the body and neuroscience focuses on all aspects of how this system functions including the structure and development. Major branches of neuroscience include behavioral neuroscience (psychology), cognitive neuroscience (mental processes) and clinical neuroscience (neurology).
The course serves as an introductory survey of topics in neuroscience, ranging from the function of ion channels in the neuronal membrane, to the activity of individual neurons and small groups of neurons, to the function of the brain and its subsystems. The course has no specific prerequisites, though some prior exposure to biology and/or chemistry can be helpful.
