# AgentTeams Migration Skill

This skill guides you through migrating your current OpenClaw instance into a AgentTeams managed Worker. You need to understand AgentTeams's architecture to produce a correct migration package.

## AgentTeams Worker Architecture (Read This First)

AgentTeams is a multi-agent system where a **Manager** orchestrates multiple **Workers**:

- Workers run in Docker containers based on `agentteams/worker-agent` image (Ubuntu 22.04 + Node.js 22 + OpenClaw + mcporter + mc)
- Workers communicate via **Matrix** (not Discord/Slack) — each Worker has a dedicated 3-party room (Human + Manager + Worker)
- All configuration is stored in **MinIO** (S3-compatible), not local filesystem
- Workers are **stateless** — containers can be recreated at any time, all state lives in MinIO
- The Manager controls Worker skills — Workers cannot modify their own `skills/` directory

### AGENTS.md Builtin-Merge System

AgentTeams uses a marker system in AGENTS.md to separate managed content from user content:

The builtin section (between the markers) is injected by the import script and contains:
- Workspace layout and file sync instructions
- Matrix @mention communication protocol
- Task execution workflow
- Memory and session management rules

**Your migrated AGENTS.md content must go AFTER the `<!-- agentteams-builtin-end -->` marker.** The import script handles the marker injection — you only need to produce the user content portion.

### What the Worker Base Image Already Has

These tools are pre-installed — do NOT include them in the Dockerfile:

## Migration Workflow

### Step 1: Analyze Tool Dependencies

Run the analysis script to detect what system tools your setup depends on:

Review the output `tool-analysis.json`. It lists:
- `apt_packages`: System packages to install in the custom image
- `pip_packages`: Python packages
- `npm_packages`: Node.js packages
- `unknown_binaries`: Commands found but not mapped to a package

**Review and adjust** — the analysis is heuristic. Remove false positives (e.g., shell builtins misidentified as packages) and add any tools you know you need that weren't detected.

### Step 2: Adapt AGENTS.md

This is the most important step and requires your intelligence — it cannot be done mechanically.

Read your current AGENTS.md (at `~/.openclaw/workspace/AGENTS.md` or your configured workspace). Then produce a new version that:

1. **KEEP**: Your role definition, domain expertise, behavioral guidelines, custom workflows, tool usage patterns
2. **REMOVE or DO NOT DUPLICATE**: The following topics are already covered in AgentTeams's builtin section (injected automatically by the import script). If your AGENTS.md has similar content, **remove it** to avoid conflicts and redundancy:
   - **Every Session** — session startup routine (read SOUL.md, read memory)
   - **Memory** — daily notes (`memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md`), long-term memory (`MEMORY.md`), "write it down" rules
   - **Skills** — builtin skills and custom skills coexist in `skills/`, MCP tools via mcporter
   - **Communication** — Matrix room structure, @mention protocol, when to speak, NO_REPLY usage, file sync via `agentteams-sync`
   - **Task Execution** — task workflow (sync → read spec → create plan → execute → write results → push to MinIO → @mention Manager)
   - **Task Directory Rules** — `spec.md`, `plan.md`, `result.md`, intermediate artifacts, `base/` directory
   - **Project Participation** — project rooms, project plan, git commit conventions
   - **Task Progress & History** — progress logs, task-history.json, resume flow
   - **Safety** — credential protection, destructive operation rules, MCP scope
3. **REMOVE**: Any references to Discord, Slack, or other non-Matrix channels
4. **ADAPT**: If you reference specific file paths, note that your workspace will be at `~/` (which maps to `/root/agentteams-fs/agents/<worker-name>/`) and shared files at `/root/agentteams-fs/shared/`
5. **ADD**: A note listing the custom tools installed in your image (from Step 1), so future-you knows what's available

Structure the output as:

### Step 3: Adapt SOUL.md

Your SOUL.md needs the AgentTeams AI Identity section. Produce:

### Step 4: Adapt Cron Jobs

If you have cron jobs (`~/.openclaw/cron/jobs.json`), they need adaptation:
- Remove `delivery` configuration (Discord channel targets, etc.)
- Keep `schedule` (cron expression + timezone) and `payload.agentTurn` content (the actual task description)
- These will NOT run as OpenClaw cron jobs in the Worker. Instead, the import script includes them in the DM message to the Manager, who will create corresponding AgentTeams **scheduled tasks** — the Manager periodically checks and @mentions the Worker to execute them

### Step 5: Generate the ZIP Package

Once you have reviewed and adapted all content, run:

**Before running**, make sure your adapted files are in place:
- The script reads AGENTS.md and SOUL.md from your workspace — update them with your adapted versions first, or the script will copy the originals
- Alternatively, run the script first, then manually replace the files in the generated ZIP

### Step 6: Review and Deliver

Check the generated ZIP:

Verify:
- `manifest.json` has correct worker name and package lists
- `Dockerfile` installs the right packages (edit if needed)
- `config/AGENTS.md` contains only your custom content (no Discord/Slack references, no communication protocol rules)
- `config/SOUL.md` has the AI Identity section

Tell the user the ZIP path. They will download the import script on the AgentTeams host and run:

## Script Reference

### analyze.sh

Scans the OpenClaw environment for tool dependencies.

- `--state-dir`: OpenClaw state directory (default: `~/.openclaw`)
- `--output`: Output directory (default: `/tmp/agentteams-migration`)

### generate-zip.sh

Packages configuration into a migration ZIP.

- `--name`: Suggested worker name (default: hostname)
- `--state-dir`: OpenClaw state directory (default: `~/.openclaw`)
- `--analysis`: Path to tool-analysis.json (default: auto-detected in output dir)
- `--output`: Output directory (default: `/tmp/agentteams-migration`)
- `--base-image`: AgentTeams Worker base image (default: `agentteams/worker-agent:latest`)

## What Is NOT Migrated

- **openclaw.json**: Entirely regenerated by the import script from AgentTeams's template. Your current channel config (Discord, Slack, etc.), auth profiles, model providers, gateway settings are all discarded. The new openclaw.json is pre-configured for Matrix, AgentTeams AI Gateway, and per-worker credentials
- **Auth profiles / API keys**: AgentTeams uses its own AI Gateway with per-worker credentials
- **Device identity**: New identity is generated during Worker creation
- **Sessions**: Conversation history is not transferred (sessions reset daily in AgentTeams)
- **Extensions/Plugins**: AgentTeams Workers use a different plugin system; only custom skills are migrated
- **Discord/Slack channel config**: AgentTeams uses Matrix for all communication (handled by the new openclaw.json)
