# Retrieve exact documentation sections for agents with jDocMunch MCP

Use jDocMunch MCP when an agent needs to index local or repository documentation, search by heading-level structure, and retrieve only the exact section needed instead of flooding context with full files.

## Prerequisites

Python 3.10+, uv or pipx, an MCP-compatible client, and a local or repository documentation corpus to index.

## Installation

Install or set up from the source-backed instructions:

Install with uv tool install jdocmunch-mcp, then run jdocmunch-mcp init. For zero-install manual Claude Code setup, use claude mcp add -s user jdocmunch -- uvx jdocmunch-mcp. Index a local docs folder with jdocmunch-mcp index-local --path ./docs.
