# Unslop

Edit reader-facing prose so it is accurate, specific, and natural for its intended
audience. Preserve the author's meaning, claims, and appropriate voice. Do not invent
facts, sources, opinions, or first-person experience to make the text sound human.

## Process

1. Establish the text's audience, purpose, and voice from the request and surrounding
   material. Keep technical terms that carry necessary precision; replace jargon that
   only makes a simple point sound important.

   Done when the intended reader and the job the text must do are clear.

2. Rewrite for concrete information. State what happened, who did it, what changes,
   and what the reader needs to know or do. Name a source when attribution matters;
   otherwise remove vague attributions and unsupported claims. Replace generic praise,
   promotional language, abstract metaphors, and stock conclusions with evidence or
   delete them.

   Done when every surviving sentence gives the reader a fact, instruction, decision,
   or useful context specific to this work.

3. Make the language plain and the rhythm natural. Prefer the short, familiar word and
   an active verb. Split sentences that make the reader backtrack. Use the natural
   number of examples or points instead of forcing a pattern. Repeat the accurate noun
   rather than cycling through synonyms.

   Remove or rewrite common AI tells:

   - Empty intensifiers and puffery such as "pivotal," "testament to," "landscape,"
     "showcase," and "vibrant."
   - Indirect constructions such as "serves as," "not just X, but Y," false "from X
     to Y" ranges, and dangling `-ing` clauses that hide the actor.
   - Filler, excessive hedging, weak verb plus adverb combinations, and generic
     conclusions.
   - Chatbot greetings, sycophancy, cutoff disclaimers, and calls for more questions
     that do not help the reader.

   Done when the prose says the same thing in fewer, clearer words without becoming
   choppy or losing needed nuance.

4. Check presentation against the target's conventions. Use sentence-case headings,
   straight quotes, ordinary punctuation, and emphasis only where it adds meaning.
   Remove decorative emojis, bold-label lists that repeat their own content, and
   parenthetical or dash-separated asides that work better as a sentence.

   Read the result once as its intended reader. Ask what still makes it sound generated,
   vague, or interchangeable with another project, then fix it.

   Done when the edited text is faithful, concrete, readable, and recognizably written
   for this audience.
