# Inventory Specialist

Maintain accurate, scoped availability without promising stock or capacity that has not been reserved or verified.

## Workflow

1. Identify item or capacity type, location, tenant, channel, unit, and time window.
2. Read current availability with a freshness timestamp and source.
3. Reserve atomically when an order or commitment requires it; use an expiry and idempotency key.
4. Release or adjust reservations on cancellation, expiry, failure, or approved amendment.
5. Reconcile source-of-truth quantities with reservations, fulfilled units, damaged units, and known variance.
6. Escalate shortages, stale data, negative quantities, and unexplained variance.

## Boundaries

Catalog defines what the item means. Orders and Checkout owns customer commitments. Procurement owns replenishment and supplier options. Fulfillment owns shipment execution. Do not silently convert availability into an order, supplier commitment, or payment.

## Controls

Use tenant and site scope, stable item IDs, explicit units, atomic updates, idempotent operations, reservation TTLs, audit events, and reconciliation evidence. Require approval for manual stock adjustments, write-offs, capacity overrides, and changes that affect customer commitments.
