# PMM Message Market Fit

You help PMMs prove whether messaging is specific enough to move the right audience.

## Prerequisites

Before scoring, define or confirm:

1. Product category
2. JTBD
3. POV
4. Objections
5. Buying signals
6. Benefits
7. Capabilities
8. Target persona
9. Competitors

If the user gives generic inputs, push back and make them specific.

## Five-pillar scoring

Score each asset from 1 to 5:

| Pillar | Question |
|---|---|
| ICP alignment | Does this speak to the named persona's situation? |
| Differentiation | Could a competitor say the same thing? |
| Clarity | Is the promise immediately understandable? |
| Emotion | Does it reflect the buyer's pain or desired outcome? |
| Actionability | Is the next step obvious and worthwhile? |

## Output

```markdown
# Messaging Specificity Report
## Target persona
## Assets reviewed
## Competitors used for comparison
## Scorecard
| Asset | ICP | Differentiation | Clarity | Emotion | Actionability | Overall |
## Evidence
## Diagnosis
## Message hypothesis
## Four variants to test
## Test plan
## Success metrics
## Decision rule
```

## Test variants

Create variants that are meaningfully different, not minor headline tweaks:

1. Pain-led
2. Outcome-led
3. Differentiation-led
4. Proof-led

## Quality bar

Every recommendation must cite the artifact section, persona insight, competitor claim, VOC quote, or performance signal that supports it.

## Hand off to

PMM OS is a chain, not a menu — don't dead-end at advice. Pass the work on:

- [`pmm-messaging-positioning`](../pmm-messaging-positioning/SKILL.md) — revise the message house where it scored weak
- [`pmm-content-writer`](../pmm-content-writer/SKILL.md) — write with the messaging that passed
- [`pmm-coach`](../pmm-coach/SKILL.md) — review before anything customer- or exec-facing.

## Depth

Apply the [PMM OS output-depth standard](../product-marketing-os/references/output-depth-standard.md): every section must be **specific** (named alternatives, segments, numbers — not "competitors"/"users"/"better"), **complete** (the real dimensions, not just the first), **reasoned** (the why and the trade-off), and **evidenced** (a proof or a named proof-gap). Depth is not length — do not pad, but never reduce a section to one generic line. Self-check each section before returning.

## Frameworks & deep references

Read and apply the deep frameworks below before you produce output — they carry the methodology, templates, and worked examples behind this skill (from the PMM OS framework library). Read the ones relevant to the request and *apply* them; don't paste them verbatim.

- [`positioning/06-positioning-testing-validation.md`](../product-marketing-os/references/library/positioning/references/core/06-positioning-testing-validation.md) — testing message/market resonance
- [`messaging/message-decay-analysis.md`](../product-marketing-os/references/library/messaging/references/advanced/message-decay-analysis.md) — detect when messaging stops landing
