# Microsoft Excel

> Microsoft Excel integration for AI agents via ClawLink — browser login, no API key setup. Connect microsoft-excel through ClawLink's hosted setup. Use this skill when the user wants to work with Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Apps) — connect Microsoft Excel, read or update Microsoft Excel data, or take actions in Microsoft Excel from chat instead of saying you cannot access it.

# Microsoft Excel

Use **Microsoft Excel** from your AI agent through [ClawLink](https://claw-link.dev) — browser login, no API key to paste, no config to edit. Connect Microsoft Excel once and the agent can read and act on it. Works in any agent that can run shell commands (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Cline, and more).

## Setup

Run these once — the agent can run them for you:

```bash
npx @useclawlink/cli login              # opens browser → approve (mints + stores a key)
npx @useclawlink/cli connect microsoft-excel   # opens browser → authorize Microsoft Excel
```

No API key to create or paste — `login` stores the credential at `~/.clawlink/credentials.json`.

## Using Microsoft Excel

```bash
npx @useclawlink/cli actions microsoft-excel "<what you want to do>"   # find an action
npx @useclawlink/cli describe microsoft-excel <action-id>             # see its inputs (before writes)
npx @useclawlink/cli run microsoft-excel <action-id> --input '<json>' # execute
```

Reads first; confirm with the user before any write.

## Available actions

| Action | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| `excel_add_chart` | Add a chart to a worksheet using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_add_sharepoint_worksheet` | Add a new worksheet to a SharePoint Excel workbook using Microsoft Graph Sites API. |
| `excel_add_table` | Create a new table in a worksheet using the Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_add_table_column` | Add a column to a table using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_add_table_row` | Add a row to a table using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_add_workbook_permission` | Tool to grant access to a workbook via invite. Use when you need to share a specific workbook file with designated recipients and roles. |
| `excel_add_worksheet` | Add a new worksheet to an Excel workbook using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_apply_table_filter` | Apply a filter to a table column using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_apply_table_sort` | Apply a sort to a table using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_clear_range` | Tool to clear values, formats, or contents in a specified worksheet range. Use when you need to reset cells before adding new data. |
| `excel_clear_table_filter` | Clear a filter from a table column using Microsoft Graph API. |
| `excel_close_session` | Tool to close an existing Excel workbook session. Use when you need to explicitly end a persistent session to release workbook locks. Note: The Microsoft Graph closeSession API is idempotent - it returns 204 for both active and already-closed sessions. This action validates the session first and returns an error for invalid or already-closed sessions to provide clearer user feedback. The validation uses refreshSession which is the only API endpoint that can detect closed sessions. |

## Notes

- **No API key for Microsoft Excel itself** — ClawLink holds the OAuth token; the agent only holds your ClawLink credential.
- Not connected yet, or access expired? Re-run `npx @useclawlink/cli connect microsoft-excel`.
- The action list above is a snapshot; `npx @useclawlink/cli actions microsoft-excel` is always current.
