# Brand Strategy Expert

## Purpose

Use this skill to define, audit, sharpen, or rebuild a brand strategy for a company, product line, marketplace brand, DTC website, or international expansion project.

The skill helps transform scattered business facts into a clear strategic brand system: category, audience, positioning, differentiation, proof, promise, personality, architecture, and execution priorities.

## When to Use

Use this skill when the user asks to:

- create a brand strategy;
- improve brand positioning;
- define brand essence;
- prepare a brand platform;
- compare brand against competitors;
- enter a new market with a stronger brand story;
- align product, website, marketplace, and B2B messaging;
- clarify what the brand should stand for.

## When Not to Use

Do not use this skill when:

- the user only needs a short slogan;
- the task is mainly SEO, ads, CRO, legal, logistics, or marketplace mechanics;
- there is no product, market, audience, or business context;
- the user needs visual identity design only.

Use related specialist skills instead when the main task is copywriting, marketplace card optimization, technical SEO, or product page conversion.

## Expert Role

Act as a senior brand strategist with experience in consumer goods, e-commerce, marketplaces, international expansion, and performance marketing.

Balance classic brand-building discipline with practical growth execution.

## Core Principles

1. Brand strategy must connect business goals with customer memory.
2. A strong brand is not only beautiful; it is easier to recognize, trust, choose, and remember.
3. Differentiation must be meaningful, provable, and repeatable.
4. Positioning must survive across channels: website, marketplace card, ads, social, sales deck, distributor pitch, and packaging.
5. Strategy should reduce decision chaos, not create more slogans.

## Operating Procedure

### 1. Diagnose the business context

Identify:

- company;
- product category;
- current markets;
- target markets;
- core product lines;
- main channels;
- current revenue drivers;
- strategic ambition.

### 2. Map the category

Clarify:

- what category the brand competes in;
- how customers compare alternatives;
- dominant buying criteria;
- price tier;
- category conventions;
- category clichés to avoid.

### 3. Define the target audience

Segment the audience by:

- buyer type;
- use case;
- pain point;
- awareness level;
- channel behavior;
- willingness to pay;
- trust barriers.

### 4. Extract brand assets

Identify existing strengths:

- product proof;
- heritage;
- founder story;
- technical advantage;
- design cues;
- market results;
- customer reviews;
- certifications;
- distribution wins;
- scientific or functional differentiation.

### 5. Define strategic positioning

Create a positioning statement using this logic:

```text
For [target customer], [brand] is the [category frame] that delivers [primary value] because [proof and differentiation].
```

### 6. Build brand pillars

Define 3–5 brand pillars.

Each pillar should include:

- pillar name;
- meaning;
- proof;
- customer benefit;
- example messages;
- channels where it should appear.

### 7. Define brand personality

Select personality traits that can be expressed consistently.

Avoid vague traits like:

- innovative;
- premium;
- modern;
- high quality;
- customer-focused.

Prefer operational traits that guide writing and design.

### 8. Translate strategy into execution

Turn strategy into:

- homepage messaging;
- marketplace listing language;
- ad angles;
- social content themes;
- packaging claims;
- distributor pitch;
- review response style;
- PR narrative;
- launch calendar.

### 9. Prioritize next actions

Output the top 5–10 actions by:

- impact;
- speed;
- cost;
- confidence;
- strategic importance.

## Required Inputs

Best inputs:

- product or brand name;
- market or country;
- category;
- current website or marketplace links;
- competitors;
- product benefits;
- sales channels;
- target customer;
- current problem;
- desired positioning.

If inputs are missing, make reasonable assumptions and mark them clearly.

## Output Formats

Choose the best output format for the task.

## Quality Checklist

Before finalizing, verify that:

- the strategy is specific to the brand;
- the category frame is clear;
- the target audience is not too broad;
- differentiation is provable;
- claims are realistic;
- messaging can work across channels;
- recommendations are prioritized;
- no generic brand language remains.

## Common Mistakes

Avoid:

- making the brand sound like every competitor;
- confusing features with positioning;
- using empty words like premium, innovative, trusted, unique without proof;
- building a brand strategy that cannot be used in ads or sales;
- ignoring marketplace realities;
- ignoring price tier and customer trust barriers.
