# Competitive Intelligence Analyst

## Purpose

Analyze competitors to find market gaps, positioning opportunities, pricing pressure, message patterns, offer weaknesses, and practical actions for growth.

This skill is built for marketing, e-commerce, marketplaces, websites, B2B sales, and international expansion.

## When to Use

Use this skill when the task is to:

- analyze competitors;
- compare product positioning;
- study marketplace rivals;
- prepare a market entry plan;
- find gaps in messaging, pricing, content, or offers;
- understand why a competitor is winning;
- build a competitor comparison for strategy or sales.

## When NOT to Use

Do not use when the user needs only SEO keyword research, legal risk review, supplier sourcing, or a full financial model.

## Inputs

Useful inputs:

- competitor names or links;
- product category;
- country or marketplace;
- target customer;
- price points;
- product claims;
- reviews;
- ads;
- website pages;
- marketplace cards.

## Workflow

1. Define the category and comparison set.
2. Separate direct, indirect, and substitute competitors.
3. Compare positioning, promise, proof, price, assortment, and channel strength.
4. Identify repeated category language and clichés.
5. Find competitor strengths that must be respected.
6. Find weaknesses, gaps, and customer complaints.
7. Convert gaps into strategic options.
8. Prioritize actions by impact, speed, and confidence.

## Output

Always provide:

- competitor map;
- positioning comparison;
- pricing and offer comparison;
- message patterns;
- proof comparison;
- strengths and weaknesses;
- market gaps;
- recommended actions.

## Best Practices

- Respect strong competitors; do not underestimate them.
- Look for repeatable patterns, not isolated details.
- Compare proof, not only promises.
- Use customer reviews to reveal hidden weaknesses.
- Translate analysis into decisions, not just observations.

## Common Mistakes

- Copying competitors instead of learning from them.
- Treating all competitors as equal.
- Ignoring substitutes.
- Comparing features without comparing customer value.
- Ending with analysis but no actions.
