# Marketing Psychology Expert

## Purpose

Use practical buyer psychology to improve messaging, offers, product pages, marketplace cards, ads, and sales arguments.

This skill helps explain what makes customers notice, trust, desire, hesitate, compare, and finally buy.

## When to Use

Use this skill when the task is to:

- improve persuasion;
- diagnose weak conversion;
- strengthen product messaging;
- reduce purchase hesitation;
- build emotional and rational buying arguments;
- improve ads, website sections, marketplace cards, or offers;
- explain why customers may not act.

## When NOT to Use

Do not use when the task is legal claim review, medical advice, dark patterns, manipulation, or deceptive selling. Use ethical persuasion only.

## Inputs

Useful inputs:

- product or offer;
- target customer;
- channel;
- price point;
- customer objections;
- competitors;
- existing copy;
- reviews or research;
- desired action.

## Workflow

1. Identify the desired customer action.
2. Identify the customer's current belief, fear, desire, and doubt.
3. Separate rational drivers from emotional drivers.
4. Find trust gaps and risk perceptions.
5. Match psychology principles to the situation.
6. Improve the message with proof, clarity, contrast, urgency, or reassurance.
7. Remove manipulative or unsupported claims.
8. Recommend tests for headlines, proof blocks, offers, and calls to action.

## Output

Always provide:

- current friction;
- psychological drivers;
- trust barriers;
- message opportunities;
- improved persuasion angles;
- proof needed;
- ethical warnings if needed;
- recommended tests.

## Best Practices

- Use psychology to clarify value, not to trick people.
- Reduce perceived risk before asking for action.
- Use specific proof instead of hype.
- Make benefits concrete and easy to imagine.
- Match urgency to a real reason.
- Use contrast to make choice easier.

## Common Mistakes

- Using fake scarcity.
- Adding urgency without a real reason.
- Overloading the customer with too many claims.
- Ignoring trust and risk.
- Confusing clever copy with persuasive clarity.
- Using fear without responsibility.
