## Personal Brand Skill

> **Scope:** Personal brand covers building a brand around an individual person: positioning, content pillars, production system. Three adjacent disciplines sit outside it and are handled separately: company or product brand strategy, one-off content tasks with no brand strategy context, and producing individual social posts ready to publish.

A personal brand runs as a parallel track across all of the person's work. Primary platforms are usually a professional network as the main channel and a video platform as the secondary, though the right pair depends on where their audience already is. The goal is one or more of: getting promoted in a current role, attracting job offers, or landing clients. Content gets repurposed at scale, with automation where possible.

**Project context is loaded from the active CLAUDE.md. Personal brand content should reflect the relevant professional context without leaking confidential work details.**

## Reference files

| Task | Reference file |
|---|---|
| Professional-network profile as a landing page, posting cadence, founder-led distribution flywheel, content engine, headline and About patterns, anti-patterns, implementation sequencing | `references/kb-distilled.md` |

Load the reference file when the task involves building a content system, scaling production, repurposing, or platform strategy. For one-off post creation, use the frameworks below directly.

## When invoked

$ARGUMENTS defines the focus area, content piece, or specific ask.
If no arguments, ask one question: what is the goal of this session — create content, build a strategy, or repurpose something?

---

Company or product brand strategy (brand associations, the brand-building sequence, goodwill, price premium) is a separate discipline from personal brand. Keep the two apart: this skill covers the brand built around a person.

---

## Positioning framework

Before creating any content, the positioning must be clear:

- **Who you are:** [Your role and expertise]. Works at the intersection of [discipline 1], [discipline 2], and [discipline 3]. [Any side projects or ventures].
- **Audience:** People who want to hire you (employers, clients) or learn from you ([your target learner audience]).
- **Angle:** Practitioner, not pundit. Shows real work, real numbers, real systems. No theory without execution.
- **Tone:** Direct, confident, no fluff. Match whatever writing rules the person already keeps, and hold the same voice across every platform.

---

## Content pillars

Build all content around 4-5 pillars and rotate between them, so no two consecutive posts hit the same one. Derive the pillars from the person's own expertise, work, and audience; the set below is an illustrative shape for a practitioner brand, not a default to adopt.

1. **Core discipline** — the craft they are known for. Real tactics, real results.
2. **Building and process** — how they make things and ship them. Show the work.
3. **Operator mindset** — how to think about time, revenue, priorities, and where effort compounds. Practitioner economics, not motivation.
4. **Behind the scenes** — what is actually happening in their projects. Numbers, decisions, lessons.
5. **Tools and experiments** — practical use cases, not hype. What actually saves time and moves metrics.

## LinkedIn content system

### Post formats that work

**Hook types (pick one per post):**
- Contrarian: "Everyone says X. They're wrong."
- Number: "I grew [product] from 0 to [N] users in [timeframe]. Here's what actually worked."
- Lesson: "I wasted 3 months on this. Don't."
- Process: "How I build and publish SEO posts automatically using [an automation platform such as n8n, Make, or Zapier]."
- Result: "We hit [revenue amount] recurring revenue. Here's the exact system."

**Body structure:**
- White space between every line or two. LinkedIn compresses walls of text.
- 3-7 bullet points or numbered steps for process posts.
- One idea per sentence.
- Build tension or curiosity through the middle.

**CTA (every post needs one):**
- Soft: "What would you add?" or "Have you tried this?"
- Direct: "DM me if you want the template." or "Link in comments."
- Follow: "Follow for more posts like this."

### Post length

- Short (1-5 lines): opinion, hot take, observation. High engagement, low effort.
- Medium (6-15 lines): lesson or mini-breakdown. Best for reach.
- Long (16+ lines): step-by-step process or case study. Best for saves and shares.

Default to medium unless the content is clearly a short take or a deep breakdown.

### Frequency and batching

- Aim for 3-5 posts per week.
- Batch-create in one session, schedule across the week.
- Every long-form piece (blog post, YouTube video, case study) should generate 3-5 LinkedIn posts.

---

## YouTube content system

YouTube SEO proper (keyword research, thumbnail strategy, watch time optimisation) is a separate discipline; this section covers only how video fits the personal brand system.

- Format: practical how-to and behind-the-scenes. Not talking head opinions.
- Best topics: tool walkthroughs, automation builds, growth experiments with real data.
- Titles: outcome-first. "How I automated my entire blog publishing workflow with [tool]" beats "[tool] tutorial."
- Each video should have a companion LinkedIn post and optionally a blog post.

---

## Repurposing system

One piece of content should generate multiple outputs:

```
Source content (long form)
    ↓
LinkedIn post (main takeaway)
LinkedIn post (contrarian angle)
LinkedIn post (step-by-step)
X/Twitter thread (condensed)
YouTube short or clip (if video)
Blog post (SEO-optimised, if valuable)
```

When asked to repurpose: deliver all variants in one response, labeled by format.

---

## Content quality rules

- Never sound like a thought leader performing for an audience. Sound like a practitioner sharing what works.
- Real numbers beat vague claims every time. Use actual data when available.
- If sharing a lesson, say what it cost. Failure without cost is not credible.
- No motivational filler. Every sentence must earn its place.
- No forbidden words. Keep a banned-words list of the corporate and AI-tell vocabulary this person never uses, and enforce it on every draft.
- No em dashes.

---

## Output format

For a single post: deliver ready to copy-paste. No preamble.
For a content batch: numbered list of posts, each labeled with format and pillar.
For a repurpose request: original content summary + all variants labeled by channel.
For a strategy session: positioning audit + 30-day content calendar outline + top 5 post ideas.
