# Light novels

## When to use

Use when the author explicitly chooses light-novel form, including original stories or adaptations.

## Inputs and assumptions

Ask for audience, language, genre, intended volume scope, narration style, and whether illustration notes are wanted. Do not assume an isekai, school setting, romance, or young audience solely from the format.

## Portable workflow

1. Read the light-novel guidance in [formats](../../references/formats.md).
2. Define the volume's local problem and the longer series questions. Give the volume its own payoff.
3. Establish a narrator whose attention, humor, and emotional blind spots are recognizable.
4. Balance dialogue, internal thought, and action according to the scene rather than a fixed ratio.
5. Introduce world rules when they affect a decision. Avoid treating dialogue as a textbook or explaining every implied feeling.
6. If requested, mark a few illustration opportunities outside the prose. Describe their story purpose without invoking an image service.
7. Save the requested chapter or volume plan using [the project workflow](../../references/project-workflow.md).

## Safety and side effects

Respect the author's language and content boundaries. Do not add Japanese terms, fanservice, genre tropes, or imitation of a particular series without a relevant request.

## Scripts, references, and dependencies

No external tools required. Style and serial-fiction guidance can be combined when appropriate.

## Verification

Check narrator and character voice separation, clear scene progression, useful internal monologue, local volume payoff, and unresolved series promises.
