# Slow Gauge

Lower the tempo so you can think before the next draw.

## Overview

Use Slow Gauge when the room is moving too quickly to reason safely and the right move is deliberate rate control.

This is the secondary Codex compatibility rendering of a metaphorical battle-chip pattern with a shipping-now execution model.

Canonical chip family: Slow Gauge
Codex shelf: Tempo and Hand Management
Provider target: Codex compatibility surface.

## When To Use

- Too many things are happening at once.
- A workflow needs a controlled pause, queue, or review gate.
- You need time for inspection before the next commitment.

## Workflow

1. Identify the loop or actor moving too quickly.
2. Introduce one clear rate limiter or pause point.
3. Use the slower gauge for reasoning, not for drift.

## Deliverables

- A pause, throttle, or review gate.
- A note on what decision quality the slower gauge protects.

## Guardrails

- Do not slow the entire room if only one lane is dangerous.
- Remove the drag once the risky phase passes.

## Default Invocation

Use Slow Gauge to reduce tempo on the narrowest risky loop, explain what decision it protects, and avoid slowing unrelated lanes.
