# Onboarding Kit

## Overview

Onboarding materials should reduce time-to-productivity and time-to-belonging. They answer “What do I need to know and do in my first days and weeks?”

## When to Use

- New employee / team onboarding
- Role-specific ramp-up plans
- Product or platform onboarding for new users
- Contractor or partner onboarding

## Useful Components

- Welcome and context
- First-day / first-week checklist
- Tools, access, and setup instructions
- Key people and who to ask for what
- Norms, rituals, and communication channels
- 30-60-90 day expectations
- Learning resources and glossary
- Feedback checkpoints

## Principles

- Prioritize what is needed early; don’t overwhelm
- Make setup steps copy-pasteable and tested
- Assign owners for access and introductions
- Update the kit regularly based on new-hire feedback
- Separate “must do now” from “read later”
