# Pricing Strategy

## Overview

Pricing is a product decision. It shapes who buys, how they use the product, and whether the business can sustainably serve them.

## When to Use

- Launching a new product or plan
- Repositioning packaging or tiers
- Responding to competitive pricing pressure
- Improving conversion, expansion, or retention through monetization design

## Core Considerations

- Value metric (what you charge for)
- Price points and tiers
- Willingness to pay and price sensitivity
- Competitive and alternative benchmarks
- Packaging (what’s included where)
- Expansion and upgrade paths
- Discounting and exception policies

## Principles

- Price to value where possible, not only to cost or competitors
- Make packaging differences meaningful and easy to understand
- Test major changes; pricing errors are expensive
- Align sales incentives and packaging to avoid channel conflict
- Revisit pricing as the product and market mature

## Verification

- [ ] Value metric aligns with customer success
- [ ] Packaging differences are clear to buyers
- [ ] Business model math works at expected conversion and cost-to-serve
