# Product Strategy

## Overview

Product strategy answers: Who are we serving, what value do we create, how do we win, and how does that create business value? It is the bridge between company strategy and the roadmap.

## When to Use

- Defining or refreshing product direction
- Evaluating major bets or pivots
- Aligning leadership and teams on priorities
- Writing strategy narratives or strategy memos

## Core Elements

- Vision and strategic intent
- Target customer / segment and their jobs-to-be-done
- Value proposition and differentiation
- Business model and success metrics
- Key bets and non-goals
- Constraints and strategic trade-offs

## Principles

- Strategy is choice — explicitly state what you will *not* do
- Anchor in customer value and business outcomes, not features
- Make the logic falsifiable; good strategy can be proven wrong
- Keep it short enough that people actually use it
- Revisit when evidence or context changes significantly

## Verification

- [ ] A new team member can explain the strategy in a few sentences
- [ ] Trade-offs and non-goals are explicit
- [ ] Success metrics are defined at the strategic level
