# Browserclaw

# BrowserClaw

The user's agent browser, shared with other agents and watched live from the
cockpit (audit + replay). Tool descriptions carry parameter detail — this
file is how to drive the browser well.

## Shared browser etiquette

- Name the session early: name_session with a 2-3 word task label — tabs
  group as <client>/<name> in the cockpit.
- Work only in task-owned tabs. Open yours with tabs action="new"; acting on
  pages you don't own is rejected. Pointed at a user's tab? Open its URL in
  your own tab and leave the original untouched.
- Independent subtasks run in parallel tabs (at most 5 unless asked).

## The loop: snapshot -> act -> verify

- snapshot renders the page as an accessibility tree; interactive elements
  carry [ref=eN] handles that act consumes (click, fill, press, select, ...).
- act reads back a settled diff of what changed — that is the verification;
  don't reflexively re-snapshot or wait. Refs die on navigation/re-render —
  re-snapshot for fresh ones.
- Fill whole forms in one act via fields[], never field-by-field.
- Still loading? wait for="text"/"selector" on something expected; a timed
  wait is the last resort.

## Reading and scale

- read extracts the page as markdown; grep searches it without the dump
  (over="ax" keeps refs) — grep first on big pages. Oversized results return
  a file path: read the file instead of re-fetching.
- Escalate deliberately: act for single interactions -> run for multi-step
  flows and bulk extraction in one JS call on the browser SDK -> evaluate
  for one-shot page-context JS. screenshot is for visual checks only.

## Failure

- Errors say why they failed — fix the cause, never blind-retry.
- "browser session not connected" means BrowserClaw isn't running or paired.
  Tell the user to start it and check the cockpit; never silently fall back
  to another browser tool.
