1. Read AGENTS.md and references/theme-contract.md before changing a theme.
2. Read references/commands.md before running a Margo command.
3. Keep rendering shape in templates and CSS. Do not add presentation-specific behavior to the Margo engine when template composition can express it.
4. Validate the theme and build the deck after a theme change. Check interactive and print-oriented outputs when the change affects rendering.
