# Rooftop Hoist

## When to use this skill

Personnel must come off a structure the aircraft cannot land on.

## Procedure

1. Rig the hoist; brief hand signals per [comms brevity](../../../../references/comms-brevity.md).
2. Lower the rescue strop; one survivor per cycle.
3. Positive hook-up confirmation before any lift.

## Boundaries

- Never hoist with an unbriefed survivor plus rescuer on one hook.
