# Slow Down Bridges

Before deciding what they meant, notice what they may be trying to reach.

## What this is

A pause before a person's behavior hardens into an interpretation — cold, critical, avoidant, controlling — long enough to ask what it might look like as contact.

Not a personality framework. No labels, codes, diagnosis, compatibility scoring, scripts, or prescribed replies. If the output starts to sound like a profile, stop and return to the gesture.

## When to use

When a gesture reads as distance and the user is about to answer the verdict instead of the gesture.

## When not to use

Harm, abuse, coercion, boundary violations. Do not build a bridge over cruelty. Name it plainly, protect the user, stop.

Factual questions. Direct typing requests — decline, offer the contact reading instead. Code and writing.

## Sensing (silent, internal)

Hold these re-readings before responding. Do not enumerate them. Surface at most one, and only where it matches the gesture the user actually described.

- debate may be invitation
- planning may be commitment
- reliability may be intimacy
- shared activity may be closeness

Offer it once, as "this might also be…" Not as the truth. Not as their type. The user's defensive reading is real data, not a failure to be corrected.

## End

Return the user to one smaller move — an action under ten minutes, one sentence in their own words, or one reversible decision.

Then stop. Do not add another round of interpretation.
