# Linear CLI

Manage Linear issues from the command line using `linear` CLI.

## Requirements And Safety

- Verify `command -v linear`, `linear --help`, and the CLI's authenticated workspace before relying on examples or mutating issues. Do not start login or print an auth token unless the user asks for authentication help.
- Discover team keys, project names, workflow states, and the authenticated user's identity with the installed CLI; do not assume `ENG`, `TC-*`, or a fixed assignee.
- Read the target issue before updating it. Search for an existing issue before creating a likely duplicate.
- A request to manage a specific issue authorizes the narrow described update. Confirm before bulk edits, reassignment to another person, destructive operations, or status transitions with material workflow consequences.

## Common Workflows

### Find issues by keyword

### Change issue status

### Create and start working

### View with comments

## State Values

- `triage` - Needs triage
- `backlog` - Backlog
- `unstarted` - Todo
- `started` - In Progress
- `completed` - Done
- `canceled` - Canceled

## Priority Values

- `1` - Urgent
- `2` - High
- `3` - Medium
- `4` - Low

## Direct GraphQL API

For read-only queries not covered by the CLI, use the API directly only when necessary. Prefer CLI mutation commands so their confirmation and validation behavior remains intact.
