# Business Model Design

## When to use this skill

Load when the user asks to design a monetization strategy, revenue model, business plan, or "how to make money with X" at scale. This skill covers online community monetization (Skool, Discord, Circle, etc.), content-to-paid funnel design, AI-automated revenue systems, and niche selection for maximum revenue.

## Output format

Produce a comprehensive markdown strategy document saved to the user's desktop or project directory. The document should follow this structure:

1. **Platform Mechanics** — How the monetization platform works, fee structure, pricing models available
2. **Revenue Math** — Realistic per-unit and at-scale revenue projections
3. **Niche Selection** — Tier list of niches ranked by: pain point × buying intent × competition × AI-automatability
4. **Funnel Architecture** — Diagram or description of content → lead magnet → paid conversion flow
5. **Infrastructure** — Technical setup (proxies, profiles, automation, content pipeline)
6. **Psychology Layer** — Why people pay: identity, transformation, belonging, FOMO, sunk cost, parasocial authority
7. **Operational Plan** — Phased rollout with timeline, milestones, and revenue projections
8. **Risk Matrix** — Platform risk, legal risk, detection risk, reputation risk with mitigations
9. **Implementation Priorities** — What to build first, what not to skip

## Niche selection methodology

Evaluate every niche on four axes:

1. **Pain point intensity** — How badly does the audience want a solution? (1-10)
2. **Willingness to pay** — What do they already spend on related solutions? (1-10)
3. **Competition saturation** — How many existing communities serve this exact angle? (inverse: 10 = empty)
4. **AI-automatability** — How much of the content and engagement can be AI-generated? (1-10)

Multiply the four scores. Target niches scoring 2000+ on the composite.

The narrowness paradox: narrower identity communities ("fitness for divorced dads over 40 with low T") convert BETTER than broad ones ("fitness community") because the prospect thinks "this is exactly for me."

## The 5 reasons people pay for communities

Frame every community design around these psychological drivers:

1. **Results/Transformation** — "This will change my life" (highest ticket, structure as timed challenges not content libraries)
2. **Insider Knowledge** — "They know what the public doesn't" (trading signals, deal flow, early access)
3. **Identity/Status** — "I'm the kind of person in this group" (exclusivity, screening, private)
4. **Belonging/Connection** — "These are my people" (solves loneliness, lower ticket, high retention)
5. **Accountability/Structure** — "Without this I won't do it" (daily check-ins, public commitments, challenges)

## Funnel architecture pattern

Every community monetization funnel follows this shape:

```
Free Content (YT/X/TikTok) → Lead Magnet (free course/PDF/challenge)
  → Email Nurture Sequence → Skool/Discord Paid Community ($49-499/mo)
    → Upsell: 1:1 coaching / mastermind ($997+/mo)
```

The free content establishes authority and trust. The lead magnet captures email. The nurture sequence builds desire. The community delivers the transformation. The upsell captures the highest-LTV members.

## Pricing tiers

Default pricing ladder for a new community:
- Launch: $49/mo (build membership, gather testimonials)
- Mature (>100 members): $79-99/mo
- Established (>300 members): $129-199/mo
- VIP/mastermind tier: $497-997/mo (includes 1:1 calls, highest margin)

## Pitfalls

- **Launching too many communities at once**: Start with 5. Scale after 3 hit 100+ real members. Launching 50 at once produces 50 ghost towns.
- **Picking broad niches**: "Fitness" loses to "Fitness for men over 40 with low T." The narrower the identity, the stronger the pull.
- **Underinvesting in community feel**: AI-generated content works for the funnel. The community itself needs human warmth — seed it with AI-generated social proof (success posts, questions, wins) so real members see activity from day one.
- **Botting ON the platform**: Automate the funnel (YouTube, X, lead capture). Do NOT automate inside the paid community platform itself — that's where bans happen. Drive real humans into the community through automated funnels.
- **No warming protocol**: New social accounts need 3-4 weeks of human-like behavior before aggressive posting. Identical behavior across accounts triggers detection.
- **Single Stripe account**: Payment processors flag sudden revenue spikes. Use separate merchant accounts per cluster of communities.
