# Company Strategy

> Build a future-back company strategy with explicit horizons, prerequisites, resource gaps, milestones, bets, and revisit triggers. Use when a founder needs to connect a multi-quarter ambition to present commitments, balance the core with adjacent bets, or test whether market expansion belongs in the plan.

# Company Strategy

## Boundary

Own medium- and long-horizon company direction. Do not replace weekly operating priorities, product roadmaps, financial forecasts, or specialist market research, and do not treat expansion as justified without evidence of fit.

## Required Inputs

- Strategic decision, destination, horizon, and evidence of success
- Current position, capabilities, constraints, and committed obligations
- Customer, market, product, operating, and financial evidence
- Available people, money, knowledge, relationships, and capacity
- Stakeholders, decision owner, and review cadence

## Workflow

1. Define the future state with a date, scope, and observable proof that it exists.
2. Separate protecting the current core, adjacent bets, and far-horizon options without presenting options as commitments.
3. Work backward through prerequisites until the chain reaches the current state.
4. Identify the critical path, rate-limiting capability, dependencies, and contradictions between ambitions.
5. Map resource and capability gaps by stage, distinguishing committed capacity from theoretical availability.
6. State the assumptions behind each bet and the cheapest sensing evidence that could strengthen or kill it.
7. Translate the path into transition milestones, the next 90 days, and the first present-tense commitment.
8. Assign owners, dates, review cadence, and conditions that require narrowing, pausing, or changing the strategy.

## Output

1. **One-page strategic choice and future-state proof**
2. **Core, adjacent, and far-horizon portfolio**
3. **Backward milestone and dependency map**
4. **Resource gaps, risks, assumptions, and sensing tests**
5. **Next commitments and revisit triggers**

## Quality Gate

- The strategy makes explicit choices and rejected alternatives.
- Vivid future language never substitutes for dated commitments.
- Market expansion follows evidence of problem intensity, buying motion, and value fit.
- Resource gaps and dependencies are visible rather than assumed away.
- Weekly execution is optionally handed to `founder-priorities` after the strategy is set.
