# LinkedIn Posting Skill

## Overview

This skill provides proven LinkedIn post formats, hook patterns, algorithm optimization strategies, and copywriting techniques for maximum professional audience engagement.

## Key LinkedIn Algorithm Factors (2024–2025)

- **Dwell time** > likes: posts that make people pause score higher
- **Meaningful comments** > reactions: replies that spark conversation rewarded
- **Early engagement window**: first 30–60 min post-publication is critical
- **Native content** > external links: links in comments, not body
- **Personal posts** outperform brand posts for reach
- **Polls and carousels** get 2–3x more impressions than text-only

## Post Format Library

### Format 1: The Insight Post (Best for thought leadership)
```
[Bold claim or counter-intuitive insight]
Here's what most people get wrong:
[Point 1]
[Point 2]
[Point 3]
The lesson?
[Single-sentence takeaway]
[Question to spark comments]
```
**Length**: 150–250 words
**Best for**: Professional insights, industry perspective

### Format 2: The Story Post (Best for engagement)
```
[Specific moment/date/context — present tense]
[Setup: what was the situation?]
[Tension: what went wrong or was unexpected?]
[Resolution: what happened?]
[Lesson: what does this mean for readers?]
[CTA: question or next step]
```
**Length**: 200–300 words
**Best for**: Personal experience, case studies, failures/lessons

### Format 3: The List Post (Best for saves and shares)
```
[Number] things I learned about [topic]:
1. [Insight]
2. [Insight]
3. [Insight]
...
Which one surprised you most?
```
**Length**: 100–200 words + list
**Best for**: Quick value, how-tos, resources

### Format 4: The Contrarian Take (Best for comments)
```
Hot take: [Contrarian claim]
[Explanation of why you believe this]
[Counter-argument acknowledgment]
[Your refined position]
Do you agree?
```
**Length**: 150–200 words
**Best for**: Debate, engagement, visibility

### Format 5: The Carousel Teaser
```
I made a [carousel/guide] on [topic].
Here's what's inside:
→ [Page 1 topic]
→ [Page 2 topic]
→ [Page 3 topic]
→ [Page 4 topic]
[Link to post or mention it's attached]
Save this for later.
```
**Length**: 80–120 words
**Best for**: Driving saves, repurposing long-form content

## Hook Pattern Library

The first line is everything. Hooks that work:

1. **Stat hook**: "87% of [audience] make this mistake."
2. **Contrarian hook**: "Stop [common advice]. It's hurting you."
3. **Story hook**: "I lost €50,000 because I ignored this."
4. **Question hook**: "What if [common belief] is completely wrong?"
5. **Benefit hook**: "How to [achieve outcome] in [timeframe]."
6. **Confession hook**: "I used to think [wrong belief]. I was wrong."
7. **Warning hook**: "If you're [doing X], you need to read this."

**Anti-patterns to avoid**:
- "I'm excited to announce..." (weak, self-focused)
- "In today's post..." (announces intent, doesn't earn attention)
- Emoji-only opening (platform has reduced reach for these)
- Starting with "We" (brand-first, not audience-first)

## Workflow

### Step 1 — Define Post Goal

- **Awareness**: Story or insight format
- **Engagement**: Contrarian or list format
- **Lead gen**: Teaser + DM CTA format
- **Authority**: Data-backed insight format

### Step 2 — Select Format + Hook

Based on goal, choose format from library. Draft 2–3 hook variations.

### Step 3 — Write Draft

- Keep paragraphs to 1–2 lines max (LinkedIn mobile layout)
- Use line breaks liberally — visual breathing room increases dwell time
- Place the most important point first (inverted pyramid)
- End with ONE specific CTA or question (never two)

### Step 4 — Formatting & CTA

**Line breaks**: Every 2–3 lines for mobile readability
**Hashtags**: 3–5 max, at the end, not mid-text. Use niche over broad.
**Links**: If sharing a URL, put it in the FIRST COMMENT, not the post body
**Tagging**: Only tag people who are genuinely referenced (no vanity tags)

### Step 5 — Timing Recommendation

- **Peak times**: Tuesday–Thursday, 7–9am or 12–1pm (audience's timezone)
- **Avoid**: Friday afternoon, weekends for B2B content
- **Post frequency**: 3–5x/week max; quality > quantity

## Output Format

```markdown
## LinkedIn Post
**Format**: [Format name]
**Goal**: [Awareness / Engagement / Lead gen / Authority]
**Est. reach**: [based on account size and format]
---
[Full post copy — ready to paste]
---
**Hashtags**: #[tag1] #[tag2] #[tag3]
**First comment**: [Link if applicable]
**Suggested timing**: [Day, time]
**Hook used**: [Pattern name]
```

## Notes

- Load brand_voice skill for tone calibration before finalizing
- LinkedIn algorithm penalizes edits made >10 min after posting — get it right before publishing
- For brand accounts vs. personal: personal accounts always get more organic reach; prefer personal where possible
