# Cc2 Research Framework

> CC2.0 seven-function research workflow (observe, reason, create, orchestrate, learn, verify, deploy) for categorical AI research. Use when conducting systematic research on categorical AI topics, coordinating multi-stream research workflows, applying categorical foundations to research methodology, or implementing the L5 meta-prompting research framework.

# CC2.0 Categorical Research Framework

Implementation of the CC2.0 seven-function categorical research workflow for systematic AI research.

## Core Functions

The CC2.0 framework models research as categorical operations:

| Function | Category Theory | Research Application |
|----------|-----------------|---------------------|
| OBSERVE | Comonad (extract) | Workspace/codebase state observation |
| REASON | Inference functor | Derive insights from observations |
| CREATE | Generative functor | Generate artifacts (prompts, code, docs) |
| ORCHESTRATE | Composition | Coordinate parallel research streams |
| LEARN | Adaptation functor | Extract patterns from analysis |
| VERIFY | Property testing | Validate categorical properties |
| DEPLOY | Production morphism | Integrate findings into framework |

## Function Implementations

### OBSERVE (Comonad Extraction)

```python
from dataclasses import dataclass, field
from typing import List, Dict, Any
from datetime import datetime
import json
@dataclass
class ObservationContext:
    """Comonadic context for research observations."""
    timestamp: datetime
    workspace_state: Dict[str, Any]
    file_changes: List[str]
    external_sources: List[str]
    prior_observations: List['ObservationContext'] = field(default_factory=list)
    def extract(self) -> Dict[str, Any]:
        """Comonad extract: get current observation."""
        return {
            "timestamp": self.timestamp.isoformat(),
            "state": self.workspace_state,
            "changes": self.file_changes,
            "sources": self.external_sources
        }
    def duplicate(self) -> 'ObservationContext':
        """Comonad duplicate: observation of observations."""
        return ObservationContext(
            timestamp=datetime.now(),
            workspace_state={"nested": self.extract()},
            file_changes=[],
            external_sources=[],
            prior_observations=self.prior_observations + [self]
        )
def cc2_observe(workspace_path: str, sources: List[str] = None) -> ObservationContext:
    """
    OBSERVE: Scan workspace and external sources.
    Categorical interpretation: Comonad sensing of environment.
    """
    import os
    # Collect workspace state
    state = {}
    changes = []
    for root, dirs, files in os.walk(workspace_path):
        for f in files:
            if f.endswith(('.md', '.py', '.yaml', '.json')):
                path = os.path.join(root, f)
                changes.append(path)
                state[path] = os.path.getmtime(path)
    return ObservationContext(
        timestamp=datetime.now(),
        workspace_state=state,
    if impl_count > theory_count * 2:
        gaps.append("Gap: Implementation lacks theoretical grounding")
        opportunities.append("Opportunity: Formalize implementation patterns")
    return ReasoningResult(
        observations=observations,
## Categorical Guarantees
The CC2.0 framework ensures:
1. **Comonadic Observation**: Context extraction preserves history
2. **Functorial Reasoning**: Insights map systematically from observations
3. **Compositional Orchestration**: Streams compose associatively
4. **Pattern Preservation**: Learning extracts categorical structures
5. **Property Verification**: Categorical laws are testable
