# Sales Draft Outreach

## When to use
Use this when you need to contact a prospect cold or re-engage one, and want a message grounded in real research — not a mail-merge template that gets deleted.

**Not for:** deep account profiling (use sales-account-research); post-call recap emails (use sales-call-summary); formal proposals or one-pagers (use sales-create-asset).

## Method
1. **Confirm the target and offer.** Name the prospect, their role, and the specific value you bring to someone like them.
2. **Research the hook.** Find one genuine, recent, relevant reason to reach out now: a trigger event, a post they wrote, a hiring signal, a shared connection. **Decision point:** no real hook → do not send; go back to research or pick a different prospect.
3. **Identify the pain.** Tie the hook to a problem they plausibly have that you solve.
4. **Draft short.** Lead with the personalized hook, one sentence of relevance, one crisp value statement, one low-friction ask. Under ~90 words for email.
5. **Match the channel.** Adjust length and tone for email vs. LinkedIn vs. follow-up. The subject line earns the open. **Decision point:** LinkedIn → cut to ~40 words, no formal subject.
6. **Make the CTA easy.** Ask for interest or a short call, not a full demo commitment.
7. **Add a sequence.** Suggest 2-3 follow-up touches, each with a different angle.

## Example
Prospect: VP Eng who just posted about scaling on-call pain. Hook = the post. Email (72 words): "Saw your post on on-call burnout as you scale — the 2am pages usually trace back to noisy alerting, not headcount. We cut alert volume ~60% for [peer company] in 30 days. Worth a 15-min look at how? " Follow-up 2 (day 4): share the peer case study. Follow-up 3 (day 9): a one-line "still worth exploring?" break-up.

## Pitfalls
- **Fake personalization.** "Love what you're doing at {{company}}" reads as merge-field spam.
- **Leading with your product.** Nobody replies to a feature list; lead with their world.
- **Multi-ask messages.** Two CTAs halve your reply rate; pick one.
- **No sequence.** Most replies come on touch 2-3; a single send under-performs.

## Output format
```
Prospect & angle: <one line>
Research hook: <the specific fact used>
Primary message:
  Subject: <>
  <body, under ~90 words, ready to send>
Channel variant: <shorter LinkedIn/DM version>
Follow-up sequence:
  - Touch 2 (day <n>): <angle>
  - Touch 3 (day <n>): <angle>
Assumptions: <anything inferred to verify before sending>
```
