# Zod Schema Patterns

## Basic Pattern

Nest 12 validates request parameters with `StandardSchemaValidationPipe` and
`@Body` / `@Query` / `@Param({ schema })`. Keep Zod schemas; infer types from
them. Do not introduce `createZodDto` or `nestjs-zod`.

// Partial schema for updates

## Extending Base Schemas

### Optional Fields with Defaults

### Preprocessing

```typescript
// Empty string to null
z.preprocess(

```

### Union Types

```typescript

```

### Array Validation

// Unique elements

```

### Nested Objects

```typescript

```

### Conditional Validation

```

## Type Inference
