# Storybrand Framework

> Use when the user wants to apply the StoryBrand framework, clarify messaging, sharpen positioning, or structure website copy around customer-as-hero messaging. Also use when the user mentions "StoryBrand," "SB7," "Donald Miller," "character problem guide plan success failure CTA," "one-liner," "brand script," "hero section messaging," "clarify my message," "make the customer the hero," "sales page messaging," "homepage messaging," "landing page copy," "website copy," or "rewrite this using StoryBrand." Use this for homepage copy, landing pages, services pages, about pages, offer messaging, and messaging strategy that should follow StoryBrand principles. The canonical references for this skill are the user's local copies of Building a StoryBrand and Building a StoryBrand 2.0.

# StoryBrand Framework

Use this skill to turn vague or company-centered messaging into clear, customer-centered messaging using the StoryBrand methodology.

## Canonical References

Before doing substantial StoryBrand messaging work, read the relevant sections from these files:

- `/Users/newmindsgroup/Library/CloudStorage/GoogleDrive-info@newmindsgroup.com/My Drive/ai-projects/AI Knowledge Library/Markdown Business Books for AI Projects/Building a StoryBrand - Clarify Your Message So Customers -- Donald Miller.md`
- `/Users/newmindsgroup/Library/CloudStorage/GoogleDrive-info@newmindsgroup.com/My Drive/ai-projects/AI Knowledge Library/Markdown Business Books for AI Projects/Building a StoryBrand 2.0- Clarify Your Message So Customers -- Donald Miller.md`

Treat these two books as the source material behind this skill. Prefer them over generic StoryBrand summaries from memory. Use the original `Building a StoryBrand` for the classic SB7 structure and website guidance, and use `Building a StoryBrand 2.0` for the updated framing around the controlling idea and execution of the communication campaign.

Before drafting or restructuring major messaging, read `/Users/newmindsgroup/.codex/skills/brand-brain/SKILL.md` and use its brand context packet for offer, voice, proof, and CTA context when available.

## Outcomes

- Clarify the customer's external, internal, and philosophical problems
- Position the brand as the guide, not the hero
- Build a simple plan and clear calls to action
- Show the stakes of success and failure
- Produce a usable brand script, one-liner, and page messaging

## Workflow

1. Identify the customer, core problem, desired transformation, and primary CTA.
2. Separate customer pain into:
   - external problem
   - internal problem
   - philosophical problem
3. Rewrite the offer so the customer is the hero and the brand is the guide.
4. Define:
   - empathy
   - authority
   - simple plan
   - direct CTA
   - transitional CTA if needed
5. State what success looks like and what failure/risk the customer avoids.
6. Define the controlling idea when building a page, campaign, or broader messaging system.
7. Convert the framework into usable assets:
   - one-liner
   - homepage hero
   - section messaging
   - service page structure
   - CTA language

## Default Deliverables

- BrandScript summary
- 3-5 homepage messaging options
- concise one-liner
- recommended CTA strategy
- controlling idea for the page or campaign when relevant

## Guardrails

- Customer first, company second
- Prefer plain language over jargon
- Keep headlines short and scannable
- Avoid cleverness that reduces clarity
- If the request is for editing existing copy, preserve the offer while improving clarity
- For websites, landing pages, and sales pages, apply the StoryBrand books proactively even if the user does not ask for every SB7 element by name
