# Short Drama Hook Engineering

Use this skill when the piece must win attention immediately.

## Hook Rules
- The first 1-3 seconds must deliver conflict, danger, accusation, reversal, desire, shock, or unstable emotion.
- Start as late as possible in the action. Skip warm-up exposition.
- Open on the strongest playable behavior, not neutral atmosphere.

## Editorial Rhythm
- Every clip needs a clear shape: hook, escalation, exit bridge.
- If the beat relaxes, add a reaction turn, interruption, reveal, or power shift.
- Prefer a visible framing or action change roughly every 2 seconds unless a longer take increases pressure.

## Writing Heuristics
- Use verbs that can be performed on camera.
- Put pressure on the protagonist quickly.
- Make the last beat pull the viewer into the next clip.

## Avoid
- long setup before conflict
- generic beauty shots at the opening
- dialogue that explains instead of colliding
