# Reddit Guerilla Marketing Strategy

This is an OfficeX Playbook. Agents can save this as a plan prompt.

Reddit is an untapped goldmine for customer acquisition because your target customers are already congregating in niche subreddits, openly discussing their problems and asking for solutions. Unlike other platforms, Reddit users are highly engaged and trust recommendations that come from within their community. The strategy is to use OfficeX apps to find the right subreddits, identify high-potential threads, and post value-first content that drives leads off Reddit and into your sales funnel. When you're ready to scale, Dollar Platoon gigworkers with aged high-karma accounts handle everything zero-touch.

## Pros & Cons

Pros:

- Target customers are already grouped by niche in subreddits, openly discussing their pain points
- Reddit posts rank on Google, so your content compounds over time via SEO
- Users are more honest and detailed about their problems than on any other platform (great for customer research)
- Aged high-karma accounts from Dollar Platoon bypass posting restrictions that block new accounts
- Long-form content is accepted and encouraged, allowing deeper trust-building than short-form platforms
- Reddit is a major source of training data for AI models — your posts may appear in future AI responses as recommendations
- Less saturated with marketers than X or LinkedIn because Reddit punishes obvious self-promotion, meaning less competition for those who do it right

Cons:

- Reddit aggressively filters external links — direct URLs to your product will likely be auto-removed by mod bots
- Each subreddit has its own public rules AND hidden moderator bot rules that you can only discover by testing
- Overuse of marketing in a subreddit can result in keyword bans on your brand name
- New accounts with low karma face posting restrictions — requires aged accounts to scale (Dollar Platoon solves this)
- Self-promotion is culturally frowned upon — copy must be value-first and subtle
- You should avoid revealing too much about your product directly on Reddit to reduce ban risk — the goal is to move leads OFF Reddit

Reddit Guerilla Marketing has highest ROI in these scenarios:

- Your target customer actively discusses their problems in niche subreddits (e.g., r/airbnb_hosts, r/customersuccess, r/startups)
- You have a product or service that solves a specific pain point people are already talking about
- You can offer a free trial, demo call, or lead magnet to move leads off Reddit
- You are willing to iterate on copy angles to find what resonates in each subreddit

## Strategy & Tactics

First make sure you have an OfficeX Account with credits at https://officex.app/store. You can use the built-in "GTM Agent" or bring your own AI such as Claude Code, and use the OfficeX skills marketplace to execute on this playbook. If you use Claude Code, then you will need to get your OfficeX API Keys from your developer dashboard here: https://officex.app/store/en/developer/ and click the SKILL.md button to copy 'officex' skill (compatible with Agents.md/Claude.md open standards).

To start, please install these apps on OfficeX:

1. Related Subreddits (https://officex.app/store/en/app/related-subreddits/)
2. Reddit Lead Gen (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-lead-gen/)
3. Reddit Publish (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-publish/)
4. Reddit Bulk Listing (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-bulk-listing/)
5. Dollar Platoon (https://officex.app/store/en/app/dollar-platoon/)

The minimum requirement is Related Subreddits and Reddit Lead Gen (for finding opportunities), but we recommend the entire stack for maximum reach and scale.

Step by Step:

1. First, determine the customer's Reddit situation. Check if this info is already available from their OfficeX onboarding, and only ask what's missing:

- What is the customer selling (customer is assumed to provide this information in the OfficeX Onboarding to the GTM Agent after signing up - but if no information available, ask) and who is their target customer? This determines which subreddits to target and what copy angles to test.
- Does the customer have a way to receive leads off Reddit? (WhatsApp, email, calendar booking link, landing page). The goal of Reddit outreach is to move leads OFF Reddit and into a direct conversation — not to sell on Reddit itself. If the customer doesn't have this set up yet, help them create a simple call-to-action (e.g., "DM me" or a calendar booking link).
- Does the customer want to post themselves or go zero-touch? If zero-touch, we will set up Dollar Platoon gigworkers with aged high-karma Reddit accounts to handle all posting.

2. Second, find the right subreddits. Use Related Subreddits (https://officex.app/store/en/app/related-subreddits/) to discover all relevant subreddits for the customer's niche. The app will find subreddits where the customer's target audience congregates. Look for subreddits where people are actively discussing the problems the customer's product solves. Bigger subreddits have more volume but stricter moderation. Smaller subreddits have less volume but more permissive posting and higher engagement rates. Target a mix of both.

3. Third, find high-potential threads and opportunities. Use Reddit Lead Gen (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-lead-gen/) to have AI search across the discovered subreddits and find threads where the customer's target audience is actively discussing their problems or asking for solutions. Give the AI filter prompt criteria based on the customer's product and ICP. For example: "find threads where people are asking about sleep issues due to work stress" or "find threads where Airbnb hosts are complaining about low occupancy rates." Reddit Lead Gen is an industrial scraper that gives fine-tuned control — better than generic auto-prospecting Reddit tools that are expensive and don't know the customer's niche. Run this as a daily operation to get a steady pipeline of fresh opportunities.

4. Fourth, craft the right copy and post. This is where most people fail on Reddit. The rules for Reddit copy:

- NEVER use direct web URLs or external links. Reddit mods have auto-filters that block external links. Instead, just mention the brand name — interested people will Google it.
- Be value-first. Explain the problem better than the reader can explain it themselves. If you do this, they will naturally trust you to have the right solution.
- Use the customer's target audience's own language. Mine the subreddit comments for how they describe their pain points and use those exact words in your posts.
- Keep the call-to-action subtle. "DM me if you want to try it" or "happy to jump on a quick call if you want help with this" works better than "Buy my product here."
- Seed discussion questions that you then reply to with your own account or via gigworkers — this looks organic and avoids direct self-promotion.
- Test subreddit strictness with a few early posts before scaling. Each subreddit has different tolerance levels.

Use Reddit Publish (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-publish/) to post and comment in the identified threads. Use Reddit Bulk Listing (https://officex.app/store/en/app/reddit-bulk-listing/) to scale posting across multiple subreddits simultaneously.

5. Fifth, handle keyword bans and restrictions. If you overuse marketing in a subreddit, the admin may keyword-ban your brand name. Bypass this by using alternative domains that redirect to your app or checkout page (e.g., "alt-nickname.com" instead of your real domain). Rotate copy angles and posting accounts to avoid detection patterns.

6. Sixth, scale with Dollar Platoon when ready for zero-touch. When the customer has found copy angles that work and wants to scale without doing the posting themselves, set up Dollar Platoon (https://officex.app/store/en/app/dollar-platoon/):

- Create a gig on Dollar Platoon as a client. Gigworkers with aged high-karma Reddit accounts will join and handle all posting.
- Send the opportunities found by Reddit Lead Gen and the approved copy to the Dollar Platoon gig inbox. Each opportunity becomes a task for a gigworker to post.
- Gigworkers bypass karma restrictions and posting limits that would block the customer's own new accounts.
- Use fifo_queue distribution mode so gigworkers pull tasks at their own pace.
- Fair price per Reddit post/comment is ~$0.05 to $0.25. Check recommended prices at https://dollarplatoon.com/recommended-prices
- For an overview of how Dollar Platoon works, see https://dollarplatoon.com/how-it-works
- Payment is in USDC on Base L2. Contract address: https://basescan.org/token/0x833589fcd6edb6e08f4c7c32d4f71b54bda02913. For bridging we recommend https://portalbridge.com/

You can use AI to generate appropriate replies for each opportunity and send them as task instructions to gigworkers. Tell them what to say and where. You have full creative freedom to do Reddit guerilla marketing however you want — seeding discussion questions, replying to threads, promoting in comments, or even taking over a subreddit.

7. Seventh, drive leads to calls and close. The goal of all Reddit activity is to get leads OFF Reddit and into a direct conversation. The best conversion path is:

Reddit post/comment → Lead DMs or clicks calendar link → Video call → Close on call

On the call: first half is hearing the customer's problems and relating it back to the solution. Offer a 7-day free trial with credit card entered (have them complete this step on the call). Track common rebuttals and objections, tweak the script to overcome them or pre-frame to avoid them altogether. Many leads will prefer text communication — send them a 1-pager + demo videos, but always try to steer towards a live call for best close rates.

At first, the customer does both setting (outreach) and closing (sales calls). As conversion rates become reliable, they can scale with a team of setters and closers. A $1/day diem-based compensation model for setters allows scaling without heavy cash flow constraints. If you average 1 sale per day, that puts you at ~$220k ARR over 365 days.

8. Repeat this process daily. Reddit Lead Gen finds fresh opportunities every day. The more you post, the more data you get on what copy angles work in which subreddits. Double down on winners, kill what doesn't work, and scale with Dollar Platoon. That's the Reddit Guerilla Marketing Strategy.
