# Storybrand Messaging

> Use when a brand message, landing page or pitch is unclear or isn't converting — the copy talks about the brand instead of the customer, or there's no one-sentence answer yet to what the business actually does for someone.

# storybrand-messaging

StoryBrand flips the instinct to talk about the brand — the customer is the hero, the brand is the guide. Every word that doesn't clarify what you do for the customer creates confusion, and confused customers leave.

## Qué hace esta skill

- Extracts the 7 StoryBrand elements: Character, Problem (external / internal / philosophical), Guide, Plan, CTA, Failure, Success
- Drafts the 1-sentence BrandScript: "We help [CHARACTER] who struggle with [PROBLEM] by [PLAN] so they can [SUCCESS]"
- Rewrites the homepage headline and hero section using the BrandScript
- Applies the message to email subject lines and pitch deck openers
- Runs the grunt test: can someone say what you do after 5 seconds on the page?

## Cuándo usarla

- Your homepage talks more about you than about the customer's problem
- People ask "wait, what do you actually do?" after seeing your site or pitch
- You're writing a new landing page and want to start with message-first, design-second
- Your email open rates are low and you suspect the subject lines are vague

## Proceso

1. **Gather inputs** — Ask: Who is the customer? What's the one thing they want most? What external problem blocks them? What do they feel internally about it? What's the deeper philosophical injustice? What does failure look like? What does success look like?
2. **Map the 7 elements** — Fill each StoryBrand slot explicitly. Don't skip Failure or Philosophy — those create emotional weight.
3. **Write the BrandScript** — Draft: "We help [CHARACTER] who struggle with [PROBLEM] by [PLAN] so they can [SUCCESS]."
4. **Grunt test the headline** — Show to a stranger for 5 seconds. Can they answer: What do you offer? Who is it for? How do they get it? If not, rewrite.
5. **Rewrite hero section** — Headline = desired outcome. Sub-headline = what you do, for whom, why it matters. Primary CTA = direct ("Book a Call"). Secondary CTA = transitional ("See How It Works").
6. **Extend to other surfaces** — Apply the BrandScript to: email subject lines, pitch deck first slide, LinkedIn headline, sales script opener.
7. **Deliver** — Output the completed 7-element map, the BrandScript sentence, and the rewritten hero copy with grunt test verdict.
