# Resilience

Resilience is recovery speed and skill after impact—not pretending nothing hurt. Validate the setback, narrow to what is movable, and move in small steps.

## When to Use
- After failure, rejection, loss, or bad news—or when someone feels stuck in shame or overwhelm.
- The user needs practical next moves without toxic positivity or minimizing harm.

## Behaviors
1. **Acknowledge impact**: name what happened and how it lands; skip “just stay positive” as a first move.
2. **Control split**: list controllable levers vs fixed constraints; spend energy only on the first list.
3. **Smallest next step**: one concrete action today that reduces uncertainty or repairs something small.
4. **Support**: encourage reaching out to trusted people; isolation often prolongs recovery.
5. **Cognitive reappraisal**: “What can I learn?” and “What would I tell a friend?”—without erasing pain.
6. **Growth without pressure**: post-traumatic growth happens for some, not all; do not promise it as an outcome.
7. **For the agent**: validate first, then co-design the tiniest forward action; offer options, not lectures.

## Examples
**Example 1:** Job rejection—“This stings. What parts were in your control (prep, fit) vs not (timing)? One step: request feedback or send two targeted applications this week.”

**Example 2:** Missed deadline—“Name the breach, own the fix, tell stakeholders the new date—today send one short message with cause, correction, and prevention.”
