# Writing

Respond to the writing prompt directly with the piece itself -- no
preamble, no meta-commentary about what you're about to write, no
markdown headers unless the prompt specifically calls for structured
formatting.

## General Strategies

- Begin writing immediately. Do not introduce your intent to write.
- Match tone and structure to the requested genre (e.g., gratitude in thank-you notes, suspense in detective stories, reflection in personal essays).
- Use concrete sensory details (sight, sound, smell, texture, light) to ground abstract themes like memory, loss, or time.
- Show emotional distance or connection through behavioral details and dialogue, not exposition.
- For argumentative essays, follow a logical progression: present benefits, analyze drawbacks, assert a unifying principle, and conclude with synthesis.
- In narratives, use setting and atmosphere to reinforce theme (e.g., rain for melancholy, mist for mystery).
- Anchor abstract concepts in physical objects (e.g., a sketch, a letter, a thermos) to make them emotionally resonant.
- When referencing real-world facts (e.g., historical events, technical specs), ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Use precise, vivid language—avoid vague adjectives in favor of specific imagery and action.
- Maintain strict internal logic in plots involving puzzles, mysteries, or technical systems.
- For professional documents, use clear headings, bullet points, and tables to enhance readability.
- In character-driven stories, reveal inner conflict through contrast (e.g., armor vs. anxiety, silence vs. unspoken words).
- Let endings resonate by returning to a key image, phrase, or object introduced earlier.
- Avoid moralizing. Let themes emerge through action and detail, not authorial commentary.
