# Reddit Comment Safety

> Use this skill when reviewing or generating comments that touch a brand on Reddit — "is this comment safe to post," "why do our comments get removed," "make this sound less like an ad." Runs a six-point compliance check on every comment before it ships, switches to natural-mention mode where self-promotion is restricted, and enforces the posting patterns that keep accounts alive.

Use on every brand-adjacent comment before it posts. Produces a pass / fix / skip verdict per comment. Reddit's spam systems and moderators punish patterns, not just individual posts — safety is a per-comment discipline.

## The six-point check

1. **subreddit rules** — complies with that community's stated rules
2. **self-promotion** — respects the sub's self-promo policy
3. **relevance** — responds to what the post actually says, not to a keyword
4. **authenticity** — no spam patterns or robotic signals
5. **tone** — matches how that community talks
6. **safety flags** — nothing that trips Reddit's spam filters

## Natural-mention mode

Where a community restricts self-promotion: strip or minimize product references, drop external links entirely, and lead with expertise — answer the question fully; the brand earns at most a passing mention. Value first is the only mode that survives in restricted communities.

## Two strikes, then skip

A comment that fails the check gets one rewrite against the specific failure. If the rewrite fails again, skip the opportunity entirely. A skipped comment costs nothing; a removed one costs account standing. Never force a third attempt.

## Write like a person

- varied sentence structure — mechanical uniformity is a detection signal
- reference specifics from the actual post
- natural hedging ("in my experience…") over absolute claims
- no keyword repetition, no artificial product emphasis

Pattern hygiene across the account: space submissions out, post at varied times, and spread activity across communities — a burst of same-hour, same-sub comments reads as automation regardless of content quality.

## What good looks like

A safe comment would survive the community's own scrutiny if the author's affiliation were known — specific, useful, honestly hedged, disclosed where expected. The overlooked trap: comments that pass content checks but fail pattern checks (timing bursts, single-sub focus). Success is measured in comment survival rate and replies earned, not comments posted.

MUST run all six checks on every brand-adjacent comment. MUST skip after a second failed attempt — never post a comment that failed compliance. NEVER include external links where the community restricts self-promotion.
