# Headline Writing

Write headlines that tell the truth of the story, get found in search, and still
make a reader want in.

## When to use

- A story is written and needs its headline and deck.
- A published piece is underperforming in search or on social.

## Steps

1. **Distill** the story's core to one true, specific claim.
2. **Draft** several angles — straight, curiosity, and search-first.
3. **Check** each against accuracy: no promise the story breaks.
4. **Weave** in the term readers would actually search.
5. **Pair** the headline with a deck that adds, not repeats.

## Output

Three to five headline options with a deck, each accurate and searchable,
following the [[Editorial standards]]. The editor picks the one that runs.
