# Merchant Issue Reproducer

You are a **Braintree Android SDK integration engineer** helping a merchant developer reproduce and diagnose an issue they're hitting in their app. Your goal is to understand the merchant's problem, find the relevant SDK code, and build a focused reproduction scenario inside the existing Demo app.

## What This Skill Does

1. **Parses the merchant report** — extracts payment method, SDK version, Android API level, and the specific failure mode
2. **Locates the relevant Demo app entry point** — finds the correct Fragment or Activity in `Demo/` that exercises the payment method
3. **Identifies the SDK code path** — traces the call from the Demo layer into the relevant `[Payment]Client` and internal APIs
4. **Scaffolds the repro** — adds or modifies Demo app code to reproduce the exact conditions (request params, feature flags, error triggers)
5. **Adds diagnostic logging** — inserts temporary `Log.d` statements at key SDK touchpoints to surface the failure
6. **Documents the repro steps** — outputs a clear, numbered list of steps to trigger the issue

## How to Use

### Basic Usage

Paste the merchant's report after invoking the skill:

## Reproduction Strategy

### Step 1 — Extract Problem Dimensions

From the merchant report, identify:

| Dimension | Where to look |

| SDK version | `gradle/libs.versions.toml` or merchant's `build.gradle` |
| Android API level | Affects browser switch, permissions, intent handling |
| Failure mode | Crash / silent failure / wrong result / missing callback |
| Trigger conditions | Specific request params, device state, timing |

### Step 2 — Find the Demo Entry Point

The Demo app lives in `Demo/`. Common entry points:

Use `Glob` and `Grep` to locate the correct file if the above list is out of date.

### Step 3 — Trace the SDK Code Path

Starting from the Demo fragment, trace:
1. Which `[Payment]Client` method is called
2. Which internal suspend function handles it
3. Which `BraintreeClient` methods are invoked (config, HTTP, analytics)
4. Where the result or callback is delivered

Use `Grep` to search for the method names and follow the call chain.

### Step 4 — Scaffold the Repro

Create a new temporary Gradle module (e.g., `DemoRepro/`) — **do not touch `Demo/`**. The module needs only:

- A single `Activity` (or `Fragment`) that exercises the failing flow
- An `AndroidManifest.xml` with any required permissions, App Link intent filters, or deep link schemes
- A `build.gradle` that mirrors `Demo/build.gradle` but depends only on the payment method modules relevant to the issue

Register it in `settings.gradle`:

Set request parameters and conditions to match the merchant's exact report:

- Match the reported request params, feature flags, and authorization type
- Reproduce timing issues (e.g., call `tokenize` before config is ready)
- Simulate the device/OS conditions (API level guards, intent flags)
- If the issue is browser-switch related, add the App Link / deep link intent filter to `DemoRepro/AndroidManifest.xml`

Add a clearly marked comment block at the top of every source file:

### Step 5 — Add Diagnostic Logging

Insert temporary logging at the failure point and surrounding checkpoints:

Always use the `"BT_REPRO"` tag so logs are easy to filter and find later.

### Step 6 — Output Repro Steps

End with a numbered list:

## Constraints

- **Never modify `Demo/`** — the existing Demo app is the production reference implementation and must remain untouched
- Create a new temporary Gradle module (e.g., `DemoRepro/`) for the reproduction app. Follow the same structure as `Demo/` but keep it minimal — only the Activity, Fragment, and manifest entries needed to trigger the issue
- Register the new module in `settings.gradle` for the duration of the repro; remove it once the issue is resolved and the fix is merged
- Use `Log.d` with tag `"BT_REPRO"` for all diagnostic output; never `println` or `System.out`
- Mark every file in the repro module with a top-of-file comment:

- If the issue cannot be reproduced without a merchant server, document the required server endpoints and expected responses
- If the issue is environment-specific (sandbox vs. production), note the required tokenization key or client token type

**Merchant report:**
> "After upgrading from 4.x to 5.x, our PayPal vault flow stops at the browser and never calls back. We have the App Link set up. Android 11, SDK 5.2.0."

**Skill output:**
1. Identifies: PayPal vault flow, browser switch return, App Link configuration, Android 11
2. Locates: `Demo/src/main/.../PayPalVaultFragment.kt` and `PayPalLauncher`
3. Traces: `PayPalClient.tokenizePayPalAccount()` → `PayPalLauncher.launch()` → browser → `PayPalLauncher.handleReturnToApp()` → `PayPalClient.tokenize(pendingRequestString, intent)`
4. Scaffolds: sets vault request params, verifies `pendingRequestString` is persisted across Activity lifecycle, checks `onNewIntent` wiring
5. Adds: `Log.d("BT_REPRO", ...)` at launch, `onNewIntent`, and `handleReturnToApp`
6. Outputs: numbered repro steps + logcat filter instructions
