# Documenso Incident Runbook

## Overview
Step-by-step procedures for responding to Documenso integration incidents.

## Prerequisites
- Access to monitoring dashboards
- kubectl access (if using Kubernetes)
- Documenso dashboard access
- On-call escalation contacts

## Incident Severity Levels

| Severity | Description | Response Time | Examples |
|----------|-------------|---------------|----------|
| P1 Critical | Complete service outage | 15 minutes | API down, all signing blocked |
| P2 High | Significant degradation | 30 minutes | High error rates, slow responses |
| P3 Medium | Partial impact | 2 hours | Some operations failing |

## Incident Response Procedures

### Procedure 1: Documenso API Unresponsive

**Symptoms:**
- Connection timeouts
- 5xx errors from Documenso
- Health checks failing

**Steps:**

1. **Confirm the issue (2 min)**
   ```bash

2. **Enable graceful degradation (5 min)**

4. **Monitor for recovery**

### Procedure 2: High Error Rate (4xx/5xx)

**Symptoms:**
- Error rate > 5%
- Mixed successful and failed requests
- Specific operations failing

**Steps:**

1. **Identify error pattern (5 min)**

2. **Check specific error types**
   ```bash

   # 422 Validation - Bad request data
   # 429 Rate Limited - Too many requests
   # 500+ Server Error - Documenso issue
   ```

3. **For 401/403 errors:**
   ```bash

4. **For 429 errors:**

   ```

5. **For 5xx errors:**
   - Check Documenso status page
   - Enable circuit breaker
   - Implement retry with backoff

### Procedure 3: Document Stuck in Pending

**Symptoms:**
- Documents not completing
- Recipients not receiving emails
- Webhooks not firing

**Steps:**

1. **Check document status**
   ```bash

2. **Check recipient status**

3. **Verify webhook delivery**
   - Check Documenso dashboard for webhook logs
   - Check your webhook endpoint logs
   - Test webhook endpoint manually

4. **Manual intervention**

### Procedure 4: Webhook Not Receiving Events

**Symptoms:**
- No webhook events received
- Events delayed significantly
- Partial event delivery

**Steps:**

1. **Verify webhook configuration**
   - Check Documenso dashboard webhook settings
   - Verify URL is correct and HTTPS
   - Confirm events are subscribed

2. **Test webhook endpoint**

3. **Check webhook logs in Documenso**
