# Email Sequence Skill

## When to activate
- Building a welcome email series for new subscribers or customers
- Creating a nurture sequence to move leads toward purchase
- Writing a re-engagement campaign for inactive subscribers
- Designing a post-purchase onboarding email flow
- A/B testing subject lines and email copy

## When NOT to use
- Cold outreach sequences — use the email-automation skill (GTM)
- Transactional emails (receipts, confirmations) — usually templated by platform
- Newsletter one-offs — this is for automated sequences

## Instructions

### Welcome email series (5-email)

```
Write a 5-email welcome series for new [subscribers / customers / trial users].
About my business/product: [describe]
New subscriber persona: [who are they, what do they want]
Goal of the series: [educate / build trust / drive first purchase / activate trial]
Email 1 (immediately): Welcome + deliver the promise
Email 2 (day 2): Your #1 tip / insight (value, not pitch)
Email 3 (day 4): Social proof (customer story / case study)
Email 4 (day 7): Address the main objection or fear
Email 5 (day 10): Soft CTA (trial / demo / first purchase)
For each email:
- Subject line (+ A/B variant)
- Preview text (40-50 chars)
- Opening hook
- Core message (150-200 words)
- CTA text and URL placeholder
```

### Lead nurture sequence

```
Write a nurture sequence for leads who downloaded [lead magnet / attended webinar].
Lead profile: [describe what they downloaded/attended and what it says about them]
Sales cycle: [X] days average
Main objections to buying: [list 2-3]
My product/service: [describe]
Design a [4/6/8]-email sequence over [X] weeks.
Mix of: educational content, social proof, objection handling, CTA.
Gradually increase purchase intent — don't sell on every email.
```

### Re-engagement campaign

```
I have [X] subscribers who haven't opened an email in [X] months.
My list: [describe — B2B / B2C, what they signed up for]
Write a 3-email re-engagement sequence:
Email 1: "We miss you" — remind them of value, give a reason to re-engage
Email 2: "Last chance" — urgency without being manipulative
Email 3: "Goodbye for now" — clean break, re-subscribe CTA, unsubscribes the rest
Goal: Win back 5-10% of inactive subscribers, clean list for deliverability.
```

### Subject line A/B testing

```
Generate 10 subject line variants for this email:
Email topic: [describe what the email is about]
Goal: [open rate / click / conversion]
Audience: [describe]
Current average open rate: [X]%
Write 10 variants testing:
- Curiosity gap
- Specific number/stat
- Personal/direct ("You")
- Question
- Urgency/scarcity
- Benefit-focused
- Emoji variant
- Short (< 30 chars) vs. long (> 50 chars)
For each: rate likelihood of beating a 25% open rate benchmark.
```

### Post-purchase onboarding

```
Write a post-purchase onboarding sequence for [product/service].
Customer just bought: [what they bought]
Goal of onboarding: [get them to use the product / refer a friend / expand purchase]
Time to value: [how long until they see benefit]
Common reasons for refund/churn in first 30 days: [describe]
Day 0: Purchase confirmation + immediate value (not just receipt)
Day 1: "Getting started" — one action to take
Day 3: Check-in — "Did you try X yet?"
Day 7: Feature spotlight — most valuable feature most people miss
Day 14: Social proof + community invite
Day 30: Milestone check + upsell/referral
```

## Example

**User:** Write a 5-email welcome series for a SaaS project management tool. New trial users sign up but 60% never create their first project.

**Email 1 (Day 0 — immediately):**
Subject: Your workspace is ready — one thing to do right now
"Welcome to [Product]. Here's one thing that makes all the difference in your first week: [create your first project in 2 minutes]. Here's exactly how → [link]. It takes 2 minutes and you'll see instantly why [X] teams use [Product] to [outcome]."

**Email 2 (Day 2):**
Subject: The #1 mistake new users make
"Most people set up [Product] and immediately try to migrate everything at once. Don't. Start with one project — your most active one. [Here's the 10-minute setup I'd do if I were you] → [link]."

[continues for all 5 emails with subject lines and copy]
