# Weekly Pulse Skill

## When to activate
- You want a structured summary of how your business performed this week
- Pulling together numbers from QuickBooks, HubSpot, Shopify, and other tools
- You want a simple weekly ritual that keeps you on top of your numbers
- Identifying what's working and what needs attention before Monday morning
- Creating a report to share with a partner, investor, or team

## When NOT to use
- Formal financial statements for lenders or investors (use your accountant)
- Real-time dashboards (needs a BI tool like Looker or Tableau)
- Detailed forensic analysis of a specific problem

## Instructions

### Your weekly business pulse

Copy this template and fill in what you know each week:

```
Generate my weekly business pulse report. Here are my numbers:
REVENUE
- This week's revenue: $[X]
- Last week's revenue: $[X]
- Same week last year: $[X] (if you have it)
- Month-to-date: $[X]
OPERATIONS
- New customers/clients this week: [X]
- Repeat customers: [X]
- Pending invoices/outstanding AR: $[X]
- Any big wins: [describe]
- Any problems: [describe]
MARKETING (what you have)
- Website visits: [X]
- New leads/enquiries: [X]
- Social media: [anything notable]
- Best performing content: [optional]
CASH
- Bank balance today: $[X]
- Any big payments due soon: [describe]
Tell me:
1. How did this week compare to last week and my trend?
2. What's the one number I should be most focused on?
3. What should I do differently next week?
4. Any risks I should be aware of?
```

### Just the most important metrics

```
I only have 10 minutes. Here are my key numbers this week:
- Revenue: $[X] (vs $[X] last week)
- New customers: [X]
- Cash in bank: $[X]
- Biggest issue this week: [describe]
Give me a 5-sentence weekly summary and 3 priorities for next week.
```

### Industry-specific pulse

**For a service business (salon, clinic, gym):**
```
Weekly numbers:
- Total appointments: [X] (vs [X] target)
- New clients: [X]
- Rebook rate: [X]%
- No-shows: [X]
- Revenue per appointment: $[X]
- Top service this week: [name]
What does this tell me about my business health this week?
```

**For ecommerce/Shopify:**
```
This week:
- Total orders: [X]
- Revenue: $[X]
- Average order value: $[X]
- Abandoned carts: [X]
- Top product: [name, units]
- New vs returning customers: [X] / [X]
- Ad spend: $[X], estimated return: $[X]
Analyse this and tell me where to focus next week.
```

**For a B2B service business:**
```
This week:
- Proposals sent: [X]
- Proposals accepted: [X]
- Active projects: [X]
- Revenue recognised: $[X]
- Hours worked (if tracked): [X]
- Upcoming deadlines at risk: [any]
- Pipeline next 30 days: $[X]
How am I tracking against a healthy business?
```

### Monthly trend review

```
Here are my last 12 weeks of revenue [paste]:
Week 1: $X
Week 2: $X
...
What trends do you see? Seasonality? Growth rate?
At this rate, what's my projected revenue for the next 3 months?
What should I be doing differently based on this trend?
```

## Example

**You paste your numbers:**
```
Revenue: $12,400 (last week $9,800, same week last year $7,200)
New customers: 4
Repeat customers: 11
Outstanding invoices: $8,200 (2 invoices over 30 days)
Bank: $6,100
Paid $3,200 rent yesterday
Big win: landed a $6,000 project from a referral
Problem: my best client is going quiet, haven't heard from them in 2 weeks
```

**Claude's weekly pulse report:**

**Week Summary — Strong Revenue, Watch the AR**

Revenue hit $12,400 this week — 27% above last week and 72% above the same week last year. The $6,000 referral win is a standout and signals your referral pipeline is working.

**The number to watch: Your outstanding AR ($8,200).** With $6,100 in the bank and rent just paid, that AR represents real liquidity risk. Chase both overdue invoices this week — starting with the larger one.

**The quiet client is a risk.** Two weeks of silence from a key client is worth a proactive check-in. A short, friendly "just checking in" email is better than waiting until they churn.

**Next week's 3 priorities:**
1. Chase the 2 overdue invoices — aim to collect by Friday
2. Send a check-in to the quiet client
3. Follow up on the referral that just landed to start the project
