# Research Background

Use this skill when the user asks broad questions like "how to create a screenplay," wants theory support, asks for a many-angle screenplay research baseline, or needs repo-native background structure before selecting a narrower output.

## Workflow
1. Factor the broad question into research lenses instead of defaulting to one method family.
2. Select one background bundle from `references/background-bundles.json`.
3. Summarize the most stable findings, local conditions, and active disagreements.
4. Point to the callable atoms, source-map docs, and the most valuable next route.
5. Keep the answer bounded. Do not turn the repo into an undifferentiated literature dump.

## Output Contract
- `research_background_map`: lens stack, stable findings, source clusters, callable assets, non-universal warnings, and recommended next routes.
- The map should help the user decide what to load next, not replace every narrower screenplay workflow.
- Broad research support should stay plural and scoped, not collapse into one doctrine.

## Posture-Adaptive Guidance

**When `certainty = lost`:**
Ask: "What is the one question you cannot move forward without answering?" A single research question is more useful than a broad background map. Use the answer to select the single most relevant background bundle.

**When `source = discover`:**
Present the research as open terrain, not as a settled canon. Surface the most generative unresolved debates, not just the stable findings. Uncertainty is a research asset here.

**When `source = construct`:**
Select one background bundle and summarise: most stable findings → local conditions → active disagreements → callable atoms → recommended next route. Keep the answer bounded.

**When `certainty = exploring`:**
Factor the broad question into two or three research lenses before selecting any bundle. Do not pre-collapse the topic into one doctrine.

**When `focus = world`:**
Research background is often used to ground world-building in historical, social, or scientific fact. Prioritise source-cluster assets that provide constraint material, not just atmosphere.
