2799662352 COMPOSITION RULES — apply to every panel:
Framing:
- Place primary subject at a rule-of-thirds intersection, never dead center unless intentional symmetry
- Establish foreground / midground / background layers; at least 2 of 3 must contain visual elements
- Use leading lines (roads, gaze direction, architecture) to guide viewer to focal point
Depth & Scale:
- Include a scale reference (human figure, doorway, vehicle) when environment is unfamiliar
- Overlap objects across depth planes to avoid flat collage look
- Vary focal lengths across panels: wide establishing → medium interaction → close-up emotion
Negative Space:
- Leave breathing room on the side a character faces (look-space)
- For tense moments, compress negative space; for calm moments, expand it
Example
Medium shot, 50mm. [char1] at the LEFT rule-of-thirds intersection, facing right with look-space open to the right. Foreground: out-of-focus railing; midground: subject; background: street with leading lines (curb + overhead wires) converging to the focal point. Calm beat → generous negative space ahead of the gaze. (A tense version would crowd the subject to the frame edge and compress that space.)
