Terms of Service

Effective July 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SkillMD — the website at skillmd.com, its API, command-line tools, MCP server, and any related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

SkillMD is a public registry of Agent Skills: SKILL.md files and companion files that AI agents load on demand. The Service lets you browse, search, download, and publish skills, and provides programmatic access through an API, a CLI, and an MCP server.

2. Accounts

Some features require an account. You sign in through a third-party authentication provider and are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to create an account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Your content

When you publish a skill or other content to the Service, you keep ownership of it. You grant SkillMD a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service, including making it available for download through the website, API, CLI, and MCP server.

You are responsible for what you publish. You represent that you have the necessary rights to the content you submit, and that the license you declare for a skill accurately reflects the terms under which others may use it.

4. Third-party skills

Most skills in the registry are created by their respective authors and remain subject to their original licenses. Skills are attributed to their authors, and your use of any skill is governed by that skill's license — not by these Terms. SkillMD does not claim ownership of third-party skills.

5. Safety review

Skills in the registry go through a safety review before being marked verified. This review is provided on a best-effort basis. It does not guarantee that a skill is free of defects, vulnerabilities, or unwanted behavior, and it is not a substitute for your own judgment. You install and run skills at your own risk, and you should review any skill before giving it access to your systems or data.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • publish skills or content containing malware, credential theft, prompt-injection attacks, or instructions intended to make an agent act against its user's interests;
  • publish content that is unlawful, infringing, or deceptive, or that misrepresents its author or origin;
  • circumvent rate limits, authentication, or other technical protections of the Service;
  • scrape or bulk-download the Service in a way that degrades it for others, or resell access to the Service without permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.

We may remove content or restrict access at our discretion to protect the Service and its users.

7. API, CLI, and MCP access

Programmatic access is offered subject to fair-use rate limits. We may change limits, endpoints, or the terms of programmatic access, and may revoke tokens or block clients that abuse the Service.

8. Intellectual property

The Service itself — including its design, text, and software, but excluding user-published and third-party skills — is protected by intellectual property laws. The SkillMD name and logo may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without permission.

9. Reporting problems

If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, is mis-attributed, or is unsafe, report it through the contact form or by emailing hi@skillmd.com. Include enough detail for us to locate and assess the content. We respond to legitimate takedown requests and remove infringing material.

10. Disclaimers

The Service and all skills are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any skill is safe or suitable for your use.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SkillMD will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service or any skill obtained through it. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (if any) or USD 100.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe your use poses a risk to the Service or its users. Sections 3–5 and 8–13 survive termination.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
