- CAPTCHA / reCAPTCHA: "I'm not a robot" checkbox or image grid challenge
- Cloudflare: "Verify you are human" page with spinner, then checkbox
- HTTP 403 / Access Denied: blank page with "Access Denied" and reference number
- Rate limiting: repeated failures on the same site after several requests
Immediate workarounds
- Google search blocked → switch to Bing, DuckDuckGo, or direct URL navigation
- Site returns 403 → try Google cache: search
cache:<url>in Google, or use Wayback Machine (web.archive.org/web/<url>) - Cloudflare challenge → try archived version, or extract info from search snippet instead of visiting the page
- Shopping site blocked (Macy's, NBA Store) → use search engine product listings or try mobile URL variant (
m.<domain>)
Prevention tactics
- Avoid rapid sequential searches — add 2-3s pauses between Google searches
- Open links in the same tab instead of spawning multiple tabs
- Use direct URL navigation when you know the target URL (type in address bar)
- For multi-step searches, vary search terms slightly to reduce pattern detection
When access is fully blocked
- If the primary site is inaccessible after 2 attempts, pivot to alternative sources immediately
- Do not retry the same blocked URL more than twice
- If the task requires specific site content and all access is blocked, submit your best answer from available information rather than looping
