Overview
When assigning a variable based on a single condition, default LLM code generation frequently writes verbose 6-to-8 line mutable let declarations and if/else blocks (let label; if (isAdmin) { label = 'Admin'; } else { label = 'User'; }).
Procedural conditional assignment causes:
- Unnecessary Token Bloat: Emitting 6 lines of braces, indentation, and variable re-assignments burns 45+ output tokens for a simple binary choice.
- Loss of Immutability (
const): Requires mutableletdeclarations in JavaScript/TypeScript, introducing potential re-assignment bugs. - Breaks Functional Pipelines: Cannot be used inside JSX returns, array map callbacks, or object literals without extra wrapper functions.
