Zero-Boilerplate Import Snippet Protocol (Context-Aware Patching)
Overview
When presenting a localized code fix in chat or updating a function (e.g., adding a validation check to renderButton at line 120), default LLM responses defensively re-print the complete 30-line import block from the top of the file before showing the function.
Re-printing existing import statements causes:
- Output Token Waste: Emitting 30 lines of existing imports burns 250+ tokens on code that is completely unchanged.
- Accidental Duplicate Import Regressions: When copy-pasting or applying naive patchers, re-printed imports get appended to the bottom of the file as duplicate imports.
- Cluttered Code Reviews: Reviewers must scroll past 30 lines of familiar imports to find the 2-line logic patch.
The Zero-Boilerplate Import Snippet Protocol omits existing top-of-file imports in localized snippets - displaying strictly the modified code block, and showing imports only if a brand new dependency is being introduced.

The 3 Rules of Clean Snippet Imports
1. Never Echo Existing Imports in Function Fixes
If useState or prisma is already imported at line 1 of the file, never include import ... in the response snippet when fixing a function on line 85.
2. Isolate Brand-New Imports in a Discrete 1-Line Diff
When introducing an external library, output strictly the single new import line:
