• What's your existing customer repeat purchase rate?
• Are there influencers or creators who already love your brand?

3. Your Channels

• Which channels drive the most revenue? (Email, paid ads, organic social, influencers)
• Are you running paid ads? What budget is available for launch?
• Do you have an affiliate or creator program?
• Do you sell on Amazon or other marketplaces in addition to your DTC site?

4. Your Timeline

• When does the product need to launch?
• How much lead time do you have? (Ideal: 4-6 weeks pre-launch)
• Are there seasonal or cultural moments you want to align with?
• Any hard deadlines (inventory arrival, seasonal relevance, competitor timing)?

Launch Types

Type 1: New Product Launch

A completely new product added to your lineup. The flagship launch type.

• Timeline: 4-6 weeks. Key challenge: Building awareness and desire for something nobody has tried

Type 2: Collection or Line Launch

Multiple related products launching together (new season, new collection, new category).

Type 3: Variant or Flavor Extension

New color, size, scent, or flavor of an existing product.

• Focus: Community involvement (vote on the variant), limited edition framing

Type 4: Limited Edition or Collaboration

Time-limited products, artist collabs, or seasonal specials.

• Timeline: 3-4 weeks. Key challenge: Creating urgency without feeling gimmicky
• Focus: Scarcity, exclusivity, storytelling around the collaboration

Type 5: Seasonal Drop

Products tied to a specific season or holiday (summer collection, holiday gifting).

• Timeline: 4-6 weeks (gift guides need PR lead time). Key challenge: Standing out during peak competition
• Focus: Gift guides, influencer placements, gift bundle architecture

Type 6: Brand Relaunch

Major rebrand, new positioning, new packaging, or new website.

Phase 1: Seed (4-6 Weeks Before Launch)

Goal: Plant the seeds of awareness and build anticipation before anyone knows the full details.

• Weeks 6-5 — Internal Preparation: Finalize product photography and videography, build hidden product pages, draft the full launch email sequence (6-8 emails), produce ad creative (static + video), write influencer/creator briefs, prepare PR materials, lock pricing and launch offers
• Weeks 4-3 — Seed the Market: Send product to 10-20 micro-influencers (5K-50K followers) with handwritten notes and launch embargo dates. Tease "something new is coming" in emails and Stories without revealing details. Brief CS and logistics teams on new SKU and expected order volume
• Key deliverables: Product pages built (hidden), all email copy drafted, social content created and scheduled, influencers seeded, ad creative produced, launch offer finalized, inventory in warehouse and ready to ship

Phase 2: Build (2-3 Weeks Before Launch)

Goal: Create visible anticipation. Move from whispers to announcements. Build a waitlist.

• Key deliverables: Waitlist live and collecting signups, product officially announced, content calendar executing, paid awareness campaign running, website updated with launch teaser

Phase 3: Launch (Launch Week)

Goal: Execute a coordinated, multi-channel launch that drives maximum revenue in the first 48 hours.

• Day -1 (VIP Early Access): Email VIP segment (top 10% by spend, loyalty members, waitlist subscribers) with a hidden product URL. SMS blast to subscribers. Goal: first sales, first reviews, first social shares from your best customers
• Day 0 (Launch Day): Product page goes live on main site. Coordinated rollout: launch email to full list (7 AM), social posts across all platforms, paid ads turned on, SMS blast, afternoon follow-up email if early sales are strong, evening social engagement
• Days 1-3: "In case you missed it" story email, share UGC from early customers and influencers, social proof email with reviews and sales velocity, optimize ad spend toward best-performing creative
• Days 4-7: Offer-driven email (discount reminder or gift-with-purchase), final urgency close email ("Last day of launch pricing"), wind down launch-specific ads, transition to evergreen campaigns, begin post-launch analysis

Phase 4: Sustain (Weeks 1-4 After Launch)

Goal: Turn launch momentum into sustained sales.

• Week 1 — Capture and Amplify: Request reviews from early buyers (email 7-10 days after delivery), repost all UGC and tag creators, add "As Seen In" press logos to site, scale best-performing ad creative, update PDP FAQ based on customer questions

Pre-Order Launch (Best When Inventory Isn't Ready)
