Process

Step 1: Map Transferable Skills

Rewrite bullets using target industry language while keeping achievements truthful.

Before (teacher): "Taught 25 students in 5th grade classroom" After (L&D): "Designed and delivered curriculum for 25 learners, achieving 95% proficiency through data-driven instruction"

Step 4: Build Transition Narrative

Draft a "why" story:

1. Discovery: "Through [experience], I found my interest in [new field]..."
2. Connection: "My background in [old field] gives me unique perspective because..."
3. Action: "To prepare, I've [certifications, projects, volunteering]..."
4. Vision: "I'm excited to bring [transferable skill] to [target company]..."

Must be positive and forward-looking — never "I'm burned out" or "I want more money."

Step 5: Recommend Bridge Experiences

Suggest immediate credibility builders:

• Relevant certifications (specific to target field)
• Volunteer work in target industry
• Freelance or consulting projects
• Side projects with demonstrable outcomes
• Online courses with portfolio-worthy outputs

Step 6: Recommend Resume Structure

For career changers, use hybrid format:

1. Summary — targeted at new role, explaining the pivot
2. Core Competencies — transferable skills in target language
3. Relevant Experience — grouped by skill, not chronology
