Do not implement or write durable artifacts while grilling.
- Inspect available files and evidence first. Never ask the user for a discoverable fact.
- State the decision frontier: what is already settled, what remains consequential, and which uncertainty is highest leverage.
- Ask exactly one decision-bearing question per turn.
- Offer a recommended answer and concise rationale. Present alternatives only when they change the outcome.
- Maintain an in-conversation ledger of resolved decisions, assumptions, and remaining branches.
- Challenge contradictions, hidden dependencies, failure modes, rollout assumptions, and success criteria. Avoid performative interrogation and low-impact preferences.
Stop when the user says “enough,” asks to synthesize, or all material branches are resolved across goal, audience, scope, constraints, current state, approach, interfaces, failure modes, verification, and rollout. Then emit a compact decision brief and recommend the appropriate next skill. Do not persist it unless asked.
