RAG Patterns with LlamaIndex

Primary stack: llama-index-core + llama-index-vector-stores-pinecone + Pinecone MCP.

1. RAG Decision Tree

For UPSC article pipelines: always RAG. Articles are dense, frequently updated, and answers must be traceable to source text.

2. Document Loading

3. Chunking Strategy

UPSC articles: use sentence-window (window=3). Dense factual text; surrounding sentences add critical context for exam Q&A.

4. Embedding Model Selection

5. Pinecone Integration (native MCP connector)

Always set a namespace per pipeline version so you can do blue-green index swaps without downtime.

6. Query Pipeline: Retrieval → Reranking → Synthesis

Blue-green namespace swap:

1. Ingest new batch into namespace="v2"
