Common Mistakes

• Skipping UN 38.3 for lithium batteries: Every lithium battery model must pass UN 38.3 before the first shipment. Airlines and freight forwarders reject, seize, or fine for non-tested batteries. This applies to cells, battery packs, and finished products containing them.
• Missing the Battery Passport deadline for EV/LMT/industrial: From 18 Feb 2027, batteries in these categories >2 kWh placed on the EU market must have a Battery Passport with QR code access. No passport = no market entry, no derogation period.
• Treating recycled content as one deadline: Declaration and minimum thresholds are separate obligations on separate timelines, activated by delegated acts per metal (cobalt, lead, lithium, nickel). Monitor the Official Journal — do not assume all minimums are live simultaneously.
